The Biotechnology Discovery Research (BioTDR) organization at Lilly supports the discovery and optimization of a wide array of novel therapeutic modalities including proteins, peptides, fusions, and conjugates. The Lead Optimization Core group within BioTDR is seeking a suitable candidate to join our diverse, interdisciplinary team as a protein purification scientist. The candidate will be responsible for the purification of novel therapeutic proteins to enable robust characterization and in vivo studies to support our innovative biotherapeutic pipeline. The candidate should have a strong technical understanding of protein purification platforms along with excellent communication and collaborative skills to accelerate our next-generation therapeutics in this fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of innovative strategies to enhance and streamline existing AKTA based purification processes to deliver candidate molecules.
- Application of industry-standard techniques for the purification of novel antibody-like scaffolds including Protein A affinity, Size-exclusion, IEX, IMAC and HIC chromatography.
- Effective communication of experimental findings to multidisciplinary scientists including Preclinical and Research teams to drive project advancement.
- Document experimental design and results in electronic laboratory notebooks and generate technical reports and protocols.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemistry or a related subject and 2 years of scientific laboratory experience.
- Master’s Degree in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemistry or a related subject with scientific laboratory experience.
Additional Preferences:
- Strong technical understanding of protein purification methods including Protein A affinity, Size-exclusion, IEX and HIC chromatography.
- Hands-on experience with AKTA, HPLC and/or UPLC systems.
- Experience with automated liquid handling robotic platforms.
- Experience with basic analytical assays including SDS-PAGE, analytical SEC-HPLC, UV-Vis, CE-SDS and ELISA.
- Familiar with molecular and experimental design software such as Benchling and JMP.
- Highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
