Designer/Drafter

Responsible for using 2D and 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create technical drawings, designs, and schematics used to manufacture truck trailer products. These detailed technical drawings incorporate the input of Engineers and can specify dimensions, codes, materials, and production methods. The Designer works under moderate supervision applying experience and skills to complete assigned work within clearly defined technical processes and procedures.

Essential Functions

• Utilize and apply drafting standards and techniques to Computer-Aided Design (CAD) systems.
• Prepare complete sets of drawings which include technical layout, multiple views, detail drawings, and assembly drawings. Maintain proper documentation and database changes.
• Establish advance material requirements and bills of material; load bills into product structure as required to meet schedules.
• Utilize mathematical formulas to compute weights, load capacities, dimensions, quantities of material, etc.
• Interface with internal staff as well as customers and vendors regarding technical issues pertaining to parts, design, usage, specifications, etc.
• Provide guidance to Drafters as needed.
• Check work for accuracy and compatibility with standards.
• Review production orders and correctly identify and order the special parts required. Issue Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN).
• Design work is generally limited to complex layout of trailers based on standards and established practices; assignments designed to develop increasing knowledge of product applications.
• Improve processes and conditions to create an environment that is more productive, including learning and applying advanced CAD capabilities.

Skills & Requirements

• Age: Eighteen years of age minimum.
• Education: Two-year Engineering Degree, or related experience.
• Preferred Experience: Three to five years of related experience.
• Computer Skills: Competent, able to employ 2D and 3D Computer Aided Drafting software capably.
• Certifications: Design drafting certification is preferred, but not required.
• Communication: Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate clearly and concisely using the English language.
• Other Requirements: Able to wear hardhat, eye and ear protection & safety toe boots. Travel to company worksites as required. Able to drive personal or company vehicle for work.

• Ability to understand and follow safety rules and regulations.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including climbing on, around, and under trailers in dirty, wet, or inclement conditions.
• Maybe exposed to agricultural products, animal feed, manure, and cleaning chemicals.
• May require working around animals including cows, pigs, sheep, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $21.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
