What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMT-Basic position at Elite Medical Transport?
At Elite Medical Transport our EMTs are responsible for responding to requests for medical care and transfer of patients in a wide variety of circumstances, from calls to 9-1-1 to calls from local healthcare facilities. Specific responsibilities include:
- Examine and evaluate patients to determine necessary care
- Provide patients with emergency care by utilizing appropriate techniques and equipment
- Document patient information, condition, and treatment
- Maintain patient confidentiality and perform all care with respect for patient rights
- Transport patients in accordance with outlined policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment for patients
- Operate and drive ambulance in conjunction with applicable safety policies and laws
- Provide basic life support and gather patient data
- Operate an IBM-compatible computer and report on services provided using a desktop application
Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A minimum of either a high school diploma or a GED as evidence of completion of a high school education
- A current state certification (license, if applicable) at the level required by the position (EMT Basic, Intermediate/Advanced or Paramedic.)
- A valid driver's license
- American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and/or American Heart Association BLS certification
The job has some specific mental and physical requirements:
- Appropriately deal with stress and maintain composure when encountering serious injuries or illnesses.
- Physical strength and dexterity and the ability to function in very adverse environments with exposure to numerous safety risks typically found at emergency scenes. A detailed analysis of those requirements is available upon request.
