Overview:
Join our dedicated healthcare team providing essential services. We are seeking certified Phlebotomists to work on an as-needed basis across our facilities in Fairfield, Martinez, and Vallejo. This role is crucial in supporting our commitment to delivering high-quality medical care to our veterans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform blood collection by venipuncture and capillary techniques from patients of all age groups.
- Prepare blood-collecting equipment, draw blood, and safely store and transport samples.
- Follow up to ensure the quality and efficacy of samples.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and information accuracy.
- Document all patient interactions and the collection process in system databases.
- Comply with all specified health, safety, and environmental standards for handling medical specimens and equipment.
Requirements:
- Certification: Must hold and maintain a current certificate as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician by the State of California.
- Experience: At least one (1) year of direct patient care experience performing venipunctures in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Health Tests: Proof of current tuberculosis testing, rubella testing, and immunizations within the last year required. Additional tests as mandated by the local facility may be necessary.
- Computer Literacy: Proficient in using computers and technology efficiently for data entry and patient documentation.
- Professional Appearance: Must adhere to the facility and service dress code. A lab coat will be provided as personal protective equipment and will be laundered by the VA.
- Physical and Health Requirements: No health or physical disability restrictions that interfere with the performance of duties.
Additional Information:
- This position requires flexibility in scheduling and availability to meet the as-needed demand.
- Contract personnel will receive orientation and training to familiarize themselves with our procedures and standards.
