Description
The Infusion Center Lead RN provides compassionate, patient-centered care to a varying acuity of patients and oversees support staff within the infusion center to ensure efficient workflow and safety.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Oversee staff within the infusion center to include RN’s and support staff
- Provide care to patients such as assessment, care planning, evaluation and education regarding infusion therapy with a holistic approach
- Provide evaluation and education to patients support team such as caregiver, family, spouse, etc.
- Collaborate with clinical team members to ensure ongoing evaluation of patients response to therapy
- Appropriately discharge patients with complete discharge summary
- Provide accurate and complete documentation of patient’s visit to include communication with patients physician
- Manage drug inventory to ensure timely infusion therapies are maintained per care plan/physician order
- Managing staff/patient ratios and schedule to balance patient care and efficiency
- Maintains knowledge of current therapies and cutting edge drugs to ensure evidenced-based and current practice for patients
- Maintains knowledge of chemotherapy and immunotherapy guidelines and recommendations through Oncology Nursing Society
- Ensures all staff disposes of drugs and biohazardous waste according protocols
- Function as a flexible member of the team to fulfill roles as needed throughout the company during low census.
Requirements
Qualifications Required:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Associate Degree from accredited nursing program
- Current Nursing licensure in accordance with appropriate state
- Knowledge of cancer pathophysiology, evidenced based management of cancer and current therapies
- Certification to give chemo drugs such as Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration Certificate
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher
- Experience in a leadership role or previous management experience
- Experience with infusion center operations
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Physically demanding, high-stress environment
- Exposure to blood, sharp instruments and other devices, body fluids and tissue, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions
- Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients
- Manual and finger dexterity
- Hand and eye coordination
- Standing and walking for extensive periods of time
- Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs
- Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range
- Working under stressful conditions
