About this Position
The HR Manager, based on-site in New Castle, PA, provides comprehensive HR support to the 75 corporate team members in New Castle and across ELLWOOD’s divisions. This role partners with the CHRO and other HR professionals to design and implement scalable HR solutions that enhance efficiency and engagement. The position demands judicious discretion and seasoned experience in daily HR functions, including team member relations, performance management, benefits, recruitment, training and development, payroll, and workers’ compensation. Compliance with state and federal regulations, along with company policies, is paramount.
This individual contributor role necessitates a “hands-on” approach, working collaboratively with the ELLWOOD Corporate (ELLWOOD Group Inc or EGI) and Business Unit (BU) HR teams to execute people strategies and sustain high team member engagement across the organization. This highly consultative position emphasizes influencing and leading by example across all autonomous ELLWOOD divisions, ensuring alignment with overarching corporate objectives.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Positive Employee Relations (PER): Uphold EGI’s PER strategy to maintain a union-free environment, aligning with ELLWOOD’s corporate PER policy and philosophy.
- Implement and Coordinate Initiatives: Partner with all ELLWOOD divisions to implement and coordinate HR initiatives. Work with group on strategic projects and issue resolution while ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and enhancing HR efficiency.
- Influence and Lead by Example: Exemplify the ability to influence without direct authority, leading by example to cultivate a culture of engagement and continuous improvement.
- Consultative Approach: Serve as an internal consultant, providing expert HR guidance and scalable solutions across all business units.
- People Plan Goals: Collaborate with the CHRO to design and implement short- and long-term people plan goals that support business objectives and enhance team member engagement.
- Employee Lifecycle Management: Oversee HR programs, including compensation, benefits, leave, recruitment, hiring, disciplinary actions, disputes, investigations, performance management, team member engagement, occupational health and safety, workers’ compensation, and training and development.
- Payroll Processing: Ensure accurate payroll processing by reviewing timecards and submitting and approving initial payroll files.
- HRIS and Compliance: Maintain HRIS data, team member files, and documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Soft Skills: Build strong relationships with team members through effective communications and interpersonal skills. Resolve conflicts and foster a positive work environment.
- Investigations and Discipline: Conduct thorough investigations and advise managers on progressive discipline practices.
- Compliance and Risk management: Ensure compliance with labor laws, data privacy regulations, and other legal requirements.
- Community and Professional Engagement: Participate in community and professional development initiatives, including career awareness events, HR associations, and grant initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience. A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible HR roles.
- Demonstrated Expertise:
- Comprehensive experience in all HR functional areas, including payroll, with a preference for manufacturing industry and corporate HR experience.
