Elma Wine & Liquor is a growing retail store with an increasing online presence. In order to support its growth, EW&L is looking to add a full time assistant store manager. This role will report directly to the store manager/owner and be responsible for a wide range of activities. Due to the retail nature of the business, a successful candidate will be a good time manager and have the ability to juggle multiple tasks at once. It is the goal that once trained the Assistant Manager will be able to handle assigned tasks on his/her own in a timely fashion.
This position requires clsing the store five days/week including weekends.
The Responsibilities and Requirements listed below are for the ideal candidate. These will be discussed, adjusted, and assigned during the interview and training process to ensure that the Assistant Manager is making use of his/her best attributes and focusing on tasks that fit his/her skill set.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the management of the daily operations of the store, including cash handling, customer service, and inventory control.
- Monitor incoming orders from internet, package and deliver as necessary.
- Assist in product ordering be preparing weekly orders based on Inventory Reorder Report.
- Responsible for purchase orders, and inventory tracking & analysis.
- Regularly meet with sales people, and merchandisers.
- Resolve customer complaints in accordance with all operational guidelines.
- Perform opening and closing functions.
- Enforce age requirements, checking customer ID’s; ensure cashiers are at all times properly following the stores age verification procedures.
- Maintain a calm demeanor, and manage issues professionally, and according to store operating and company standards, setting a positive example.
- Ensure conformance of all store operations to all applicable laws and regulations.
- Assist in maintaining the training program to ensure all staff are informed and knowledgeable of store products, and train staff in proper customer relations skills and sales techniques in an effort to maintain a high quality of service to the public.
- Keep process documents (opening, closing, etc.) up to date. Create new ones as necessary.
- Analysis of all purchase orders for cost accuracy and pricing.
- Coordination with distribution companies, and liquor companies about pricing and sales strategies as well as product selections.
- Regular inventory audits to determine products slated for inventory reductions or returns.
- Monitor wine vintages and keep online accounts up-to-date.
- Keep online store up-to-date with current inventory and mark discontinued items as out of stock.
- Responsible for in-store merchandising such as layouts, promotions, and displays.
- Responsible for stocking of merchandise and maintaining the overall appearance, and cleanliness of the sales floor.
- Provide customers with recommendations, and offer other assistance as needed.
- Maintain storage organization and cleanliness.
- Receiving of products.
- Perform all other related duties and responsibilities as apparent or as assigned by management.
- Close and frequent interaction with the general manger/owner on a day to day basis.
