Overview:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the following:
Provide support to the kitchen equipment for Food & Nutrition for safe and reliable operation.
Repairs to all kitchen equipment as necessary.
Position requires a flexible work schedule with some service calls after regular work hours and on weekends.
Other duties may be assigned.
Typical workday will be Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm. Working hours will be adjusted as needed to accomplish repairs that are required to be outside of typical workday hours, to be determined by the Maintenance Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS: Essential Skills/Aptitudes/Requirements:

Applicants must have working knowledge of kitchen equipment and supporting systems found in commercial kitchens.
Understand repair methods and techniques of commercial kitchen equipment.
Basic knowledge of electrical systems in connection with kitchen equipment repairs.
Shall have a journeyman license or State of Iowa certificate in kitchen equipment repairs with corresponding safety training
Shall have a type II or better refrigerant license
5 years experience in repairing commercial kitchen equipment and supporting systems.
Ability read sketches, blueprints, specification manuals, and other written instructions
Experience with kitchen equipment building code requirements
Servsafe Certification is preferred
Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trade
Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis with a strong attendance history
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and implement ideas contained in technical documents, reports, regulations, etc.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, colleagues, staff and students.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written forms.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic mathematical functions required in the building maintenance trade. Including, but not limited to, addition, subtractions, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals and fractions.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve problems effectively. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Responsible and respectful attitude towards job and fellow workers.
Capable of representing the school District in a professional manner, which includes but is not limited to confidentiality, communication skills, and ability to present a professional personal image.
Ability and knowledge to operate equipment, tools and vehicles necessary to accomplish assigned duties.
Valid Iowa State Driver's license with a record that is satisfactory to the District and the District’s insurance carrier.
Must be willing to work under adverse weather conditions.
Basic computer knowledge including the ability to use email and web-based software.
Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions.
Ability to problem solve independently and with others.
Ability to work independently is a self-starter, motivated to work hard.

Salary and Benefit
Hourly Rate: $21.57-$25.50
Salary and Benefits in accordance with work Agreement with Local 199, Service Employees International Union including but not limited to a health care package, paid vacation, IPERS retirement program etc.
