What are the responsibilities and job description for the Day Porter position at Emcor?
Must be able to perform essential duties including but not limited to cleaning of the interior and exterior of building, able to operate mechanical floor scrubber and Sweepers, gather and empty trash in all areas, moving material to proper locations with the use of hand trucks, pallet trucks or fork trucks, cleaning of building floors, walls windows, doors, lockers, water fountains as well as other equipment as requested and the cleaning of common areas. Will also perform regular inspection on eye wash/emergency showers, fire protection systems, fire extinguishers, Ladders, chemical spill kits, used oil storage areas. Maintain a clean and safe environment in compliance with all regulatory standards, organizational policies, and safety procedures. Responding to all tasks given throughout the day with a sense of urgency and in a courteous and professional manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Aisle Cleaning, Sweep and scrub plant aisle with a mechanical floor scrubber.
- Trash Removal, Removal of all shop trash daily to trash compactor replacing can liners.
- Cleaning on common areas regularly, Stair Ways, Landing Areas, Janitorial Closets.
- Cleaning of dock areas both interior and exterior of the building.
- Daily Sanitize/Disinfect of all common areas rest rooms, locker rooms, offices, cafeteria.
- Sweep & Mop all walkways, side aisles in the plant & detailing of white lines
- Smog-Hog collection cell/filter cleaning
- Weekly Inspect and clean of eye wash & emergency showers.
- Inspection of fire protection system, fire extinguisher, Ladders, chemical spill stations & used oil staging areas.
- Empty Chip Hopper throughout the plant in the appropriate metal hoppers.
- Changing out of boom socks, flags, water filters, towel dispensers & smog hog drums.
Education:
- High School Diploma
Qualifications:
- 2 or more years experience in facility maintenance or day porter/janitorial field. Capable of working with a maintenance software system (CMMS).
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must be able to acquire a fork truck, Crane and JLG operator’s license.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, climb of balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell.
The employee must regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration. Occasionally loud noise level. May require safety equipment including, but not limited to, steel toe shoes, hearing, eye and hand protection.
