Overview
Emerald is seeking an Account Executive to support its Retail Innovation Conference & Expo (RICE) and Retail TouchPoints (RTP) brands. RICE caters to omni-channel and ecommerce retailers and brands, providing direct access to the technology and trends shaping the digital future of retail through webinars, blogs, research, videos, onsite events, virtual experiences and networking opportunities. RTP reaches 80,000 retailers via a newsletter, website and multimedia properties, and partners with solution providers to generate leads through custom content, webinars and content syndication programs.
Using a deep understanding of our brands’ offerings and extensive industry insight, the Account Executive will be responsible for driving revenue for live events and publications for both of these brands. This role will build key relationships with their core base of business, increasing the rate of retention and working closely with Customer Success to identify and develop opportunities for up-selling and cross-selling to meet and exceed annual territory goals.
Our Account Executives are consultative, data-informed, strategic sellers. They are embedded in the industries they support, and are consistently innovating our products and approach to meet the evolving needs of our customers.
Responsibilities
Specifically, the ideal Account Executive will :
- Sell booth space, sponsorships, and digital products to meet new business and retention revenue goals
- Utilize multiple channels to develop new business pipelines, including existing databases, industry networks, social media, office, studio and showroom visits and tradeshows
- Effectively use Salesforce CRM to monitor growth and performance, including maintaining customer details and creating accurate forecasts
- Deliver proposals fitting the needs of the customer to secure their business
- Attend competitive or industry related events to stay connected with current clients and prospect for new opportunities
- Continuously analyze the needs of current clients as well as new products and industry trends to identify opportunities for up-selling and cross-selling
- Relay challenges and opportunities to brand teams; collaborate to strategize revenue growth opportunities, solve client issues, and share competitive information
- Engage with influential and advocate accounts, and seek out opportunities to gain industry knowledge and understand market complexities
- Maintain an understanding of functions that interface with sales, including contracts/payments/collections, operations, marketing, and admin functions
Qualifications
- Success selling b2b event and/or media products in a consultative environment
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and proactively identify resources to maintain industry knowledge; knowledge of the contemporary furnishing design sector and an ability to recognize original product design are pluses
- Active listener and persuasive communicator, with the ability to ask the right questions and effectively translate client needs into competitive proposals and close sales
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate successfully with multiple functional groups (marketing, editorial, etc)
- Proactive, independent work style that demonstrates the ability to effectively prioritize, multitask, and identify potential challenge areas with limited oversight
- Experience using Salesforce or a similar CRM dashboard to manage and prioritize work
- Willing and able to travel overnight for up to 15-20% of the time
