Job Summary: As a Merchandise Planning Specialist, you will play a crucial role in optimizing inventory levels, maximizing sales, and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective merchandise planning and replenishment strategies. You will be responsible for analyzing sales data, forecasting demand, and coordinating with various departments to ensure the timely replenishment of merchandise across our retail channels.


Responsibilities:


Merchandise Planning:

  • Utilize historical sales data, market trends, and other relevant factors to develop merchandise plans and assortment strategies.
  • Collaborate with the merchandising team to define product assortments and category plans based on customer demand and market trends.
  • Regularly review and adjust merchandise plans to optimize inventory levels and meet sales targets.


Demand Forecasting:

  • Forecast demand for various products and categories based on historical sales data, seasonality, promotional activities, and market trends.
  • Develop accurate sales forecasts to support inventory replenishment decisions and ensure sufficient stock levels to meet customer demand.


Replenishment Management:

  • Implement replenishment strategies to maintain optimal inventory levels in stores and distribution centers.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of merchandise and minimize stockouts.
  • Monitor inventory levels and replenishment performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.


Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the purchasing, logistics, and store operations teams to coordinate replenishment activities and optimize inventory flow.
  • Communicate merchandise plans, inventory status, and replenishment priorities to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to align merchandise plans with promotional activities and seasonal campaigns.


Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze sales, inventory, and other relevant data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations summarizing key performance metrics, replenishment activities, and actionable insights for management review.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field, or equivalent experience .
  • Proven experience in inventory management, merchandise planning, demand forecasting, and/or replenishment management within the retail industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable conclusions.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management systems, ERP software, and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in planning and execution.
