Electrician - Albuquerque, NM
EML is seeking an experienced Electrician for our new government contract located in Albuquerque, NM and the surrounding areas.
SUMMARY
The Electrician performs maintenance, repair, and tends to all equipment intended for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy used in buildings or industrial processes for the Colorado Service Center facilities under the scope of our contract.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy;
- Repair a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems or other transmission equipment;
- Read and comprehension of blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications;
- Locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment;
- Installs conduit to bulkheads with brackets and screws, using hand tools, and threads wires through conduit to terminals, such as connection boxes, circuit breakers, voltage regulators, and switch panels;
- Working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment; and using a variety of electrician's hand tools, and measuring and testing instruments.
- Connects power-supply circuits environmental, fire control, and other facility electric and electronic equipment;
- Tests electrical characteristics, such as voltage, resistance, and phase angle, in circuits, using voltmeters, ohmmeters, and phase rotation indicators;
- Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source.
- Replaces defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units, using electrician's hand tools and test equipment.
- Other duties as required by the company may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must possess at least four (4) years' experience at the journeyman level, and experience obtained within the past seven (7) years in the field of inspection, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, operating and performing preventive maintenance on complex electrical power distribution systems. All Electricians must meet the qualification requirements of the American National Standards Institute / International Electrical Testing Association ETT-2015, Standard for Certification of Electrical Testing Technicians and hold at least a Level 3 or 4.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must be able to read and understand the signs, signals, and operating instructions in use in accordance with government standards. Where reading, understanding, and discussing safety and environmental warnings are an integral part of contractor personnel’s duties, those personnel shall be able to understand, read, write, and speak English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
