JOB DESCRIPTION: Assists with providing nursing coverage to nursing departments. Interfaces with clinical nursing agencies and assures appropriate credentials are received/maintained; serves as liaison between staffing coordinator, nursing directors and department directors, in providing adequate departmental staff support. Reviews and determines staffing needs according to computer based scheduling program. Contacts clinical nursing agencies to procure nursing staff. Performs general clerical activities, including word processing, filing, maintaining departmental employment and credentialing records. Participates in shift report with nursing supervisor, communicates staffing coverage and pertinent staffing needs. Collects departmental data and assists with data analysis to support making fact based decisions. Maintains departmental database and produces reports. Assists in payroll related activities including assisting with resolution of discrepancies. Coordinates the preparation and processing of employee information. Greets visitors and answers incoming telephone calls. Orders and maintains office supplies and forms. Schedules and coordinates departmental meetings and provides employee attendance roster. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred. Five years clerical or secretarial experience, which must include one year of experience in a hospital or healthcare environment and one year of staffing and scheduling experience. Previous experience with computer software applications including word processing, database management, and spreadsheet applications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (MediumMax 25lbs): up to 25 lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 25 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
