Mechanical Engineering Summer Intern

EIS is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Summer Intern to join our team in our Metairie, La office.  The Mechanical Engineering Intern will perform engineering assignments designed to develop mechanical engineering knowledge and experience associated with designing equipment, components, structures or systems.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.

• Learn basic principles of Mechanical Engineering.
• Assist with project research and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
• Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.

Required Qualifications

• Must be 18 or older.

• Potential candidate has successfully graduated from high school and obtained an HS diploma or GED.
• Potential candidate must be accepted and enrolled in a College/University for the Fall of 2024 as an engineering related, or undeclared, major.
• Full or part-time internship as directed by local office/project team.
• Demonstrated interest in Mechanical Engineering, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to EIS work and projects.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.

Preferred Qualifications

Actively enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering, or related, Masters or PhD program.
