The Pratt Library is accepting applications for a Library Services Assistant (LSA)-Clerical for our public Services departments.
The LSA-Clerical position is a part-time clerical position that requires the ability to work up to 19 hours per week.
The summary of duties listed below is not exhaustive. Additional duties are dependent upon the needs of the hiring department/division.
The Library Services Assistant will:
Perform routine/repetitive office support and circulation duties.
Operate a variety of standard office and library machines; type letters, forms and other documents as required.
Answer telephones; answer questions and refer customers to appropriate personnel; assist customers with operation of library equipment.
Register customers for library cards and maintain customer library records; charge and discharge library materials; handle customer registration problems; provide explanation of circulation regulations to customers.
Collect fines and fees as well as cash from the sale of Pratt Library logo items; operate cash register.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Position of Trust
Those under final consideration for appointment will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a criminal conviction check.

High school diploma or GED. Intermediate proficiency with MS Word. Type 30 wpm.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Basic Microsoft Word skills. Ability to use email. Ability to do internet searches and other basic database searches. Knowledge of basic English grammar, spelling and punctuation. Ability to file materials alphabetically. Ability to understand and follow simple written or oral instructions. Ability to pay attention to detail. Ability to provide a variety of information and guidance clearly, courteously and pleasantly to library customers. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with coworkers. Abiltity to work up to 19 hours per week. Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evening and weekend hours.
Drug & Alcohol Testing
