Job Description Summary

The Economic Mobility and Housing Stability VISTA member will develop and implement housing-based solutions related to affordable housing access and stability and enhance the quality of life for the most vulnerable New Yorkers, ensuring that housing can be used as a platform to connect households to opportunity and resources.

To this end, Enterprise's Economic Mobility and Housing Stability VISTA member will work with the Most Vulnerable Population team to advance its economic mobility, eviction prevention, and housing access initiatives. The VISTA will research the resources needed and challenges for households with low incomes, connect them to broader community opportunity, and identify barriers and opportunities for dismantling systemic racism and disadvantages. The VISTA will also work on projects that will involve design and/or implementation of innovative housing access and social service interventions and assist in the implementation of new programs.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

The Economic Mobility and Housing Stability VISTA member will provide a range of support for the implementation of the economic mobility platform, eviction prevention, and housing access and stability initiatives, including:

  • A service connection pilot that is focused on the delivery of whole family (2 gen) that leverages collaboration between service providers and property managers and multigenerational service coordination.
  • Eviction Prevention programmatic and advocacy efforts that support the housing stability of low and moderate-income New Yorkers.
  • An initiative to recruit units in small properties in New York City to expand access to housing for voucher holders.
  • A statewide housing choice voucher program that expands neighborhood choice for voucher holders.
  • An initiative that expands access to housing for people with a history of involvement in the criminal legal system.

Responsibilities across programs include but are not limited to:

  • Implement, evaluate,and refinea two generation (2Gen), whole-family focused framework for a neighborhood-based service connection model,determiningwhether andhow it can be scaled across New York City neighborhoods.
  • Refine and implementan employment-linked job training program, including convening affordable housing and service provider partners torefinepilotmodel, identifying workforce providers partner to pilot model, and analyzing current market realities.
  • Strategizehow Enterprise canexpand on and/orscale components of its economic mobility platform, including refining programsto be responsive to COVID-19.
  • Create and update marketing, outreach, and educational materials on the Emergency Housing Voucher program, including referral guidance and Frequently Asked Questions.
  • Develop and manage stakeholder relationships, involving non-profit, government, and philanthropic partners across programs.
  • Support ongoing program and advocacy development processes and the capture of lessons learned and outcomes from program implementation.
  • Organize convenings including agenda planning, stakeholder engagement, and meeting logistics.
  • Help identify areas of overlap and integration across programs.
  • Research on programmatic priorities and best practices.
  • Coordinate progress and troubleshoot obstacles with grantees, such as community-based, faith-based, and grassroots organizations, as well as evaluation consultants.
  • Support contract and grant management activities; including but not limited to preparing documentation, submitting disbursement requests, and drafting reports.

The VISTA position will have responsibilities that will offer a high-level of professional development. They will meet with key affordable non-profit, government, and philanthropic stakeholders that provide and support various programs and services. The VISTA will collaborate across various Enterprise departments, including the legal, information technology, innovation, investment departments and the national team.

Education Level: College graduate

This is a yearlong paid position working through the AmeriCorps VISTA program effective April 10, 2023 - April 9, 2024.

Enterprise's New York City office is currently utilizing a hybrid work format. However, candidates must be able to work full-time in the office should Enterprise reestablish such requirements.

The annual rate of $26,798is provided through the VISTA program, as are additional benefits which are outlined in the VISTA Member Handbook Enterprise will be offering the following subsides to help support the VISTA salary:

  • Housing Subsidy = $678/month (based on New York residency)
