Epsilon is seeking a UI Designer with a focus and desire to work within a user experience team with responsibility of designing high quality website interfaces. The UI Designer is responsible for knowing and applying UX/UI best practices, keeping current with emerging technologies and consulting on user interaction design; and possesses strategic and analytical skills, great communication skills, with an enthusiasm for growth and tackling multiple complex projects within a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The UI Designer is expected to be motivated to combine the art of design with the foundations of usability to produce work that excels aesthetically and encapsulates strong user-centric thinking.
Key Responsibilities
The following outlines the principal work & responsibilities of the job and is not intended to be an exhaustive list.
- Strategize design plans and create engaging and effective consumer-facing websites that help to accomplish—and exceed—our client's objectives.
- Design and build website interfaces, navigation and aesthetics of websites; including the planning and mapping of user experiences, designing website flows, creating wireframes, prototyping and designing webpage layouts.
- Collaborate closely across project team(s) (including business owners, product owners, project managers, and web developers) to refine and improve site experiences, taking an active role consulting on user experiences and interaction design.
- Work alongside development team members to deliver consistent and reliable web experiences, and UX and graphic designers to ensure interaction, usability and accessibility standards are met.
- Conceptualize ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design challenges.
- Create interactive prototypes to define site experiences and/or improvements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for issues associated with web site usability, accessibility, user interface design, and information architecture.
- Champion UX and promote understanding of UX value throughout the organization.
- Work with Brand Creative Teams in the application of the branding style guide to web content.
- Consult with business partners and colleagues to ensure designs are understood, implemented, and produced appropriately.
- Identify, implement and manage web feedback channels to gain customer insights, and iterate on site usability.
- Create and manage usability testing practices and research methodology to gain insights on current site usability and feedback on prototypes.
- Conduct competitor analysis and provide thought leadership on industry design best practices.
This role requires someone who has:
- Strong portfolio of UI design projects that display good information architecture, usability, and interaction design principles.
- Creative, imaginative and action-oriented approach to work and a passion for improving Web/UX design and a dissatisfaction with status quo.
- Strong leadership skills, especially by influence: high-energy, hard-working, and ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Infinite patience and experience responding well to design requests.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical and negotiation skills, through verbal and design means. Ability to articulate business challenges and present designs, make recommendations and gain alignment from key stakeholders.
- Detail-obsession and ability to multi-task with good time management and organization skills
- Expertise with current web design tools (e.g., Figma, Zeplin, Adobe XD, Photoshop)
- Strong command over interaction design and information architecture
- Understanding of Accessible Web Design practices and standards
- Experience with (US and international) accessibility concerns and making designs usable by people with disabilities.
- Familiarity with SEO
- Excellent English language skills
- Eager to learn new design skills, technologies and domains.
- Understanding of content management systems and template-based designs
- Comfortable consulting and providing feedback on visual design and what is required of a great user interface.
- Ability to clearly articulate usability problems and recommend best course of action verbally and in written form.
- BS or MS in Human Computer Interaction, Web Design, Graphic Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 6 years' experience designing consumer-level websites and interfaces
Pluses:
- Familiarity with C#, .net, Asp.net MVC, WebApi, HTML5
- Familiarity with Java/JavaScript/JQuery/CSS/HTML
- Proficiency with tools like Visual Studio, Microsoft Azure and Team Foundation Server
- Experience with AEM Sites
