The Life Assumptions Lead is responsible for conducting Life assumption experience studies and making actuarial assumption recommendations to senior management. This role is part of the Actuarial Assumptions team, which is responsible for the development, maintenance and distribution of all Actuarial Assumptions used in Equitable’s internal and external financial reporting. In addition to managing experience analysis and our annual assumption setting process, the team will assist in the development of assumptions for various inforce initiatives and ad hoc projects. The Life Assumptions Lead will work very closely with the Model Development team, Actuarial Valuation, IT/Data Analytics Office, Risk Management, Product Development teams, and external auditors in executing the team’s objectives.

The total targeted compensation range for this position is $169,000 - $246,000. Total compensation varies based on skills, experience, geographical location and other factors.

Required Qualifications:

Duties Include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the development and proposal of Life inforce actuarial assumptions across GAAP, Statutory, and Economic reporting frameworks.
- Lead a small team, coordinating tasks efficiently among the team members, and developing their skill sets.
- Perform experience study analysis and development of assumption proposals.
- Propose enhancements to experience studies and/or the assumption structure to increase accuracy or reduce complexity.
- Coordinate with key stakeholders, ensuring assumption proposals align with risk principles and IT/modeling parameters.
- Collaborate with Model Development and Actuarial Valuation teams to quantify assumption proposals.
- Present assumption proposals to senior management for approval.
- Ensure that the reviewed assumptions are SOX compliant with the appropriate documentation and validation; support annual audit walkthroughs and provide timely responses internal and external auditors.
- Partner with teams across the Company to execute inforce and balance sheet optimization initiatives and fulfill statutory experience reporting requirements as well as ad hoc experience data requests.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree
- FSA Designation or near FSA
- 7 years of actuarial experience
- Understanding of life insurance products, policyholder behavior, assumption development and modeling and accounting of such products
- Prior experience with Python, SQL, and Data Visualization tools (such as Tableau, Looker, etc.)
- Established technical skills with a heightened attention to detail
- Best in class communication skills – both oral and written
- Demonstrated leadership skills and a track record of challenging the status quo
- Self-starter with an established sense of ownership and commitment to achieving objectives in a timely manner
- Exposure to GGY AXIS actuarial projection system
