What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern, Investments position at EquiTrust?
The Investment Intern will support various investment data and data automation initiatives, consolidating data needs from business processes. This individual will assist asset class teams such as Private Credit, Real Estate and Structured Products to facilitate research and reporting. The Investment Intern will also work with various departments within EquiTrust to develop an understanding of the overall life insurance business and asset class research methodology. The Investment Intern will be part of a highly collaborative team responsible for making investment decisions in a variety of public and private fixed income and derivatives sectors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts daily data maintenance tasks and monitors data quality exception reports.
- Consolidates various data streams from vendors and makes them accessible for internal users by developing queries and tools as the situation requires.
- Supports asset class teams by delivering automation tools to replace existing manual processes and centralize both data source and business logic to the Investment data warehouse.
- Generates portfolio data for analyses for meetings with regulatory agencies, credit rating agencies and other meetings.
- Willingly takes on additional responsibilities as requested to accomplish department and company objectives.
- Actively participates and contributes to the goals and objectives of the Company by working collaboratively and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to understand business process automation and optimization.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaborative, entrepreneurial spirit; energized by the open exchange of ideas.
- Highly motivated with a strong desire to learn.
- Proficient using Microsoft Excel.
Training or Work Experience:
- Data analytics experience preferred.
- Experience working with SQL, VBA or Python preferred.
- Experience with BlackRock Aladdin and Bloomberg preferred.
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master's degree program at an accredited university or college pursuing a degree in Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, Accounting, Quantitative Mathematics, or Mathematics.
Working Conditions:
- On-Site Location: Chicago, Illinois.
- Business Travel: Travel not required/likely.
