ERCOT is seeking a Senior Project Manager with a strong track record with successful delivery of IT projects. The primary responsibility of this position is to plan and manage the delivery of significant improvements to ERCOT’s Grid and Operations Planning systems that meet business objectives by: organizing stakeholder contributions, planning project resources, estimating effort durations, managing project budget, tracking project milestones, and implementing of the deliverables. The ERCOT Project Management Process framework will be followed which includes initiation, planning, execution, and closing phases for project delivery. Work Location The majority of job duties can be performed remotely from Texas home. May be required to be on-site in Taylor at least once a month, or more as needed based on the business needs as determined by their Manager May select a hybrid work schedule or choose to work on-site 100% of the time Essential Job Duties Senior Level: Understands customer’s success criteria for each assigned project, and guides project to meet those objectives. Develops project plans specifying milestones, tasks, start/end durations and resource allocations for each phase of the project. Identifies, manages and tracks project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks. Coordinates work tasks with project personnel. Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams that are responsible for all aspects of a project Manage and drive project schedule, risk and issue management, scope, and change management Assigns duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority to project personnel. Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget. Directs and coordinates activities of vendors to ensure project deliverables & timelines are met. Manages and monitors the work of the team, to ensure the high priority items stay on track, while promoting teamwork. Manages project budget and reporting. Coordinates and responds to requests for changes from original specifications. Demonstrates accountability for the results of the team. Monitors metrics to track team performance against schedule expectations and budget. Manage and tracking of project documentation. Prepares project status reports and keeps management, customers, and others informed of project status and related risks/issues. Monitors project results against specifications. Ensures the creation of test plans. Ensures sufficient functional and integrated testing completed on new/modified code. Directs application/solution testing. Completes project reviews. Obtains, through customer satisfaction and acceptance testing, project signoff of completion. Lead Level - Above plus: Develops project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans and allotment of resources for each phase of the project. May oversee project assignments, work schedules, training, mentoring, and coaching for other employees as assigned by the Manager. Ensures work assignments of team members are completed in a timely manner and reviews work product of team for accuracy prior to submitting for management approval. Formulates and defines technical scope and objectives of project for project personnel. Manages activities of team members to perform analysis of business requirements to determine technical design and produce the required design documentation. Establishes standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation. Identifies and schedules project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks. Coordinates recruitment and assignment of project personnel. Assigns duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority to project personnel. Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget. Manages and monitors the work of the team, to ensure that the team focuses on high priority items, while promoting teamwork. Coordinates and responds to requests for changes from original specifications. Questions designs and/or procedures to enhance the quality of the application and/or process for building the application. Demonstrates accountability for the results of the team. Implements metrics to track team performance against schedule expectations and budget Develops and maintains technical and project documentation. Prepares project status reports and keep management, clients, and others informed of project status and related issues. Monitors project results against technical specifications. Identifies and raises issues or deviations from the functional requirements. Adheres to migration execution planning methodology. Ensures the creation of test plans. Ensures execution of unit and string tests (as needed) on new/modified code, by following the specified test plan and verifying the expected results. Directs application /solution testing. Captures best practices for use in future projects. Completes project reviews. Obtains, through customer satisfaction and acceptance testing, project signoff of completion. Required Experience Senior Level: Requires minimum 5 years related work experience in excess of degree requirements Lead Level: Minimum of 8 years (in excess of degree requirements stated above) of progressively responsible experience in project management. Experience managing a wide variety of high risk, high profile, multi-million dollar application development and IT projects in a complex setting, using various technologies preferably in the power industry Preferred Competencies Highly skilled in project scheduling using Microsoft Project Online or MS Project Server 2 years’ experience in directing project execution for highly critical systems 2 years’ experience in the ERCOT energy, market, or electric utility business Task assignment and tracking using JIRA Working knowledge of the ERCOT Bulk Electric System Understanding of the ERCOT Energy Market Exceptional presentation skills, to include presenting to executives and sponsors Experience in consulting customers with the cultural changes of business process changes Experience with Agile project delivery methods Experience with automated testing solutions and approaches Project planning in a resource-matrixed enterprise Project budget and resource hours tracking Excellent written and verbal communication skills Education Bachelor's Degree : Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field (Required) Master's Degree : Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field (Preferred) or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required Certifications PMP Project Management Professional (Preferred) PgMP Program Management Professional (Preferred) Work Location: The majority of job duties can be performed remotely from your Texas residence.
