Ergon, Inc in Flowood currently has an opening for a Project Manager for Ergon's Corporate Engineering department.

The Project Manager will manage capital projects for Ergon's Corporate Engineering department with a primary focus on projects within the Refining & Marketing, Asphalt & Emulsions, and Transportation & Terminaling business segments. Projects typically range in size from $2,000,000 - $50,000,000. The person will work closely with Facility Management and Business Unit Operations personnel to initiate and guide the scoping, budgeting, and execution planning for major capital projects and participate in long-term facility planning.
Project Manager Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serve as project manager for planned and unplanned responsibilities consisting of scope development, detailed design, budget development, contractor selection, and project schedule and execution oversight.
- Provide project leadership to achieve the highest levels of safety, cost control, quality, engineering, procurement, construction, and team dynamics.
- Evaluate and mitigate project risks.
- Communicate status and plans for projects with major projects programs.
- Continuously vet qualifications, develop depth, and maintain relationships with consultants and contractors.
- Develop Authorization for Expenditure (AFEs) to request funding approval from management.
- Prepare, review and/or modify drawings, documents, and specifications, etc.
- Design, specify, and/or select mechanical systems, equipment, and instrumentation related to asphalt process and/or storage applications.
- Participate in PSSR, commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting activities.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety laws related to repairs or projects.
- Work with engineering consultants and contractors to develop scopes, cost estimates, and schedule for capital projects.
- Manage contractor selection process and oversee construction activities.
- Develop scopes, cost estimates, and schedule for capital and maintenance projects. Provide technical support and troubleshooting in response to breakdown or unplanned maintenance projects.
- Oversee project close-out and documentation turnover.
- Develop and track project KPIs.
- Due diligence for asset acquisitions and greenfield facility sites.
Project Manager Job Education & Qualifications:
A Technical Bachelor's degree is required. Mechanical or Civil Engineering is preferred. A minimum of 2 years of project engineering, project management, and/or general plant/industrial experience is required. He or she will have the additional qualifications:
- Ability to work in and foster a strong team environment with minimal supervision.
- Experience in the oil refining industry is preferred.
