Store Manager

Locally owned Erie Food Co-op is a member-owned, full-service natural foods grocery store offering a wide variety of healthy foods, wellness, and body care products from local and national brands. Our focus and mission each day is to provide the best possible customer experience for each and every person who walks through our doors. To this end, our buyers do their best to create a product selection that encompasses the daily needs of our customers by providing options with the consideration of a variety of dietary needs as well as budgets.

What We Are Looking For:

Currently we are seeking applicants for a full-time store manager for our downtown location (29 West 5th St.) that we plan on opening later this year. This is an exciting opportunity to assist in opening a new store!

This position will manage and direct all store operations, meet all store objectives and goals, ensure efficient daily store operations, and oversee store security, facilities, and cleanliness.

The successful candidate will be available to work various shifts including days, nights, weekends and some holidays based on the needs of the business.

The successful candidate should have these skills and abilities:

• Lead, direct, manage and motivate staff.

• Strong communication, listening and decision-making skills.

• Ability to provide effective leadership for a group, especially in facilitating group processes.
• Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments.
• Ability to plan, develop and implement efficient and productive retail operations systems and procedures.

• Organizational, time management and attention-to-details skills.

• Solid knowledge of store-wide budgeting, margin, pricing, financial statements and other retail financial indicators.
• Ability to handle multiple demands and remain calm under stress.

The successful candidate must have:

• Minimum five (5) years management experience (to include hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, firing staff) required.

• Minimum five (5) years retail experience; grocery store preferred (in the natural foods industry a plus).

• College/further relevant education and/or training a plus. Combination of education, training and/or experience will be considered.

• Computer skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Internet applications required.

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

• Certification in Erie County food handling required; or be willing and able to be certified.
• Certification in Adult First Aid/CPR/AED; or be willing and able to be certified.
