Position
The Director of Nursing Director is to perform under the supervision of the Campus Director, consult both Vocational Healthcare instructors and students in assigned campuses of vocational training and career development, assist in establishing and maintaining an orderly, safe, and well-disciplined classroom learning environment, and to perform other consultation services regarding the program when required.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the Director of Nursing Program are subject to change and additional duties may be assigned over time as the situations require. The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Plan, develop and support the Healthcare Nursing Department of ERP College while maintaining compliance with accreditation standards.
· Monitor the clinical training sites for the Nurse Assistant Program and assess additional sites.
· Evaluate the learning environment in the classrooms to ensure the highest quality education for the students.
· Monitor students’ work site performance monthly and report to the management and regulatory bodies if required.
· Research and stay updated with industry trends and help grow students’ awareness of the employment skill needs and requirements.
· Develop, maintain, and improve the training programs and course contents to ensure students receive the most updated skills.
· Maintain effective communication with stakeholders including students, instructors, administrators, and management.
· Maintain accurate and timely compliance records and report them to the management and regulatory bodies.
· Establish communication with CDPH and manage all correspondence with them as they pertains to the success of the healthcare department and its programs.
· Participate in recruiting, onboarding, training, and managing all new healthcare employees as instructed by the Campus Director.
Work Experience
· A minimum of three (3) years of experience within the last five years as a state-accredited or approved registered nurse, or Director of Nursing in a vocational setting in California.
· One (1) of the three (3) years must be as a licensed nurse providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care settings.
Education and Certifications
· Must have a minimum, of an associate degree, bachelor’s degree in nursing or major in Nursing or Public Health Administration.
· Certificate or evidence of completing 24 hours of continuing education in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing.
· Teaching training or certificate approved by the Board of Registered Nursing or administered by an accredited educational institution.
· Must have an active license as a Registered Nurse in good standing in California, along with valid CPR certificate and Driver’s License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The ideal candidate is expected to have a variety of knowledge skills and abilities, not limited to,
· Skills to design and develop the program and course materials, implement, and evaluate programs as requested by the college; help students in assigned areas of healthcare training and career development; effectively communicate orally and in writing with the stakeholders and understand; interpret laws and regulations to remain compliant.
· Functional knowledge of current nursing practices and procedures in long-term health care and acute care facilities; procedures required for achieving and maintaining nursing assistant certification; current nursing practices and procedures in long-term health care and acute care facilities.
· Ability to provide quality nursing care to the aged and infirm by standards established by the California State Department of Health for long-term healthcare establishments; safely and effectively operate a variety of machines and equipment appropriate for assigned instruction area(s); meet the travel requirements of school campuses and clinical sites.
