What You'll Do
As a Manager, Engineering Documentation, you will lead a team of draftspersons within the Product Development and Innovation department. You and the team are responsible for understanding and incorporating relevant codes/standards/specifications into Product Development processes and technical documentation, creating and maintaining manufacturing drawings and technical data sheets. You will serve as the administrator for CAD and data management systems (Solidworks and PDM Vault), manage the Engineering Change Requests/Change Order/End of Life processes and documentation, and create and maintain companywide standardize engineering documentation practices. You will work cross-functionally with multiple business units, product managers, product designers, manufacturing engineers, and other stakeholders of the company on both new product introductions and sustaining engineering programs.
- Manage multiple cad draftspersons to ensure projects are on track and prioritized
- Understand and incorporate relevant codes/standards/specifications into product development processes and technical documentation.
- Serve as the company-wide administrator for SolidWorks and the PDM Vault
- Create and maintain technical documentation templates, and companywide engineering documentation standardization
- Manage Engineering Change Requests/Change Order/End of Life processes and documentation
- Lead your team in the creation of production-level drawings for high volume products including relevant manufacturing specifications, identification of critical dimensions, and specifications for coatings, tempers, finishes, etc.
- Prepare prototype design and procurement specifications, mock-up design and build efforts, drawings for test fixture manufacture and test rigs (in collaboration with peer teams,), and specific guidance for quality control and first article acceptance plans
- Serve as the interface with vendors and technology partners to collaborate on design for manufacturing strategies, costs, standards, and quality
- Create 3D CAD models from concepts and guide your team to do so
- Create production ready 2D drawings of parts and assemblies that meet ASME Y14.5 GD&T and internal drafting standards using Solidworks v2022 and PDM Vault revision management
- Review and integrate Supplier design for manufacturing feedback into updated drawings to gain Supplier approval/signoff
- Coordinate the drawing integration with manufacturing engineers and necessary stakeholders
- Create technical data sheets and CAD blocks for customer usage
- Document and maintain accurate record of drawing revisions and affected drawings.
- Support Enstalls commitment and responsibilities to ISO 9001
What You'll Bring
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or similar 4-year Engineering degree
- Minimum of 5 years of experience
- Preferred Certified SolidWorks Expert (CSWE) and PDM Vault certified (CPAP)
- Strong track record in similar roles with a portfolio of previous work that can be reviewed and that demonstrates candidates abilities relevant to the job description
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Where You'll Be Located
This position is located on-site in one of our product development locations in either the Phoenix, Hayward, or North Andover (Boston) areas.
What Well Offer
We offer competitive compensation determined by each individual's relevant experience, skills, education and location. We anticipate the base salary for this position to be between $90,000 and $145,000 annually, if located in the San Francisco Bay Area market. In addition to base salary, Enstall employees are eligible for either an annual bonus or commission, depending on their position. If your desired salary falls outside of these rates, we hope you'll still apply as there may be other positions that better align.
