This is a technical position within the Gene Therapy group in South San Francisco to characterize AAV viral vectors in support of novel discovery programs. This job will involve performing routine assays for characterizing pure AAV. Key responsibilities will be establishing and maintaining relevant protocols for these assays, and the candidate will also contribute to designing, implementing and optimizing these assays. The ideal candidate will have a background in characterization of viral vectors, proteins, or other biomolecules and have some experience in an industry setting.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support AAV characterization by through routine and consistent performance of 4 or more assays
- Collect and evaluate data; prepare reports, summaries, and presentations; maintain and update laboratory notebook and the laboratory information management system
- Ability to manage inventory of supplies, ordering reagents and consumables
- Critical thinking, analytic skills, and trouble-shooting ability
- Capability to multi-task, be independent, self-motivated, as well as work in a highly collaborative setting
- Excellent oral and communication skills
- Work independently and self-sufficiently
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a science related discipline with 0 to 3 years as a scientist in an academic, research, laboratory setting, or biotech/pharma company (CRO experience ideal).- Excellent organization skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
- Technical experience with one or more of the following analytical methods:
o qPCR, ddPCR, and/or RT-qPCR
o SDS-PAGE and/or capillary electrophoresis, along with protein staining and/or immunoblot
o ELISA, Luminex, and/or plate-based screening assays
o Spectrophotometers and/or other plate readers for measuring chemiluminescence, fluorescence, DLS/DSF, etc.
Position is full-time, Monday to Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of South San Francisco, CA are encouraged to apply.
