What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer/Planner position at EvapTech?
Position summary:
The Buyer/Planner role is responsible for verifying, buying, and managing material requirements for production. This role is also responsible for keeping management abreast of market trends, changes in vendor business practice, and alternatives available in the market. This role may also entail Production Order generation.
Key responsibilities:
- Verifies manufacturing requirements and creates stocking strategies for inputs.
- Serves as a liaison between Materials & Production concerning materials and production processes.
- Process production orders utilizing the Evapco Production Order generation system.
- Work closely with the Production Control department to identify deficiencies in requirements and amend planning prior to production.
- Provides purchasing planning and inventory control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data trends.
- Support Materials team initiatives as defined by manager.
- Negotiates the pricing level of some locally and nationally sourced items.
- Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; forwards orders to vendors/suppliers; monitors and expedites orders.
- Resolves any pricing, receiving & quality issues; forwards receiving documentation for payment.
- Works closely with custom engineering groups to serve as a liaison between engineers, drafters, and external suppliers.
- Works closely with Product Development to aid in new product introduction.
- Utilize Evapco Quality Control systems to report NCR’s and conduct Root Cause Analysis.
Reporting structure:
- Reports directly to facility Purchasing Supervisor
- Corporate Supply Chain Team – Member of 8-person team
- Role focused on Taneytown Operations
Candidate Criteria:
- 3-5 years of purchasing experience with a focus on electronic components.
- Experience in an Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) environment.
- Must have strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- The ability to multi-task, prioritize commitments, manage time effectively and work independently to meet time sensitive deadlines.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected as this role performs a wide variety of complicated tasks.
- Must be detailed oriented, possess excellent organizational skills and can work independently with a minimal level of supervision.
- Complete understanding of production process and equipment application.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, General Business, or appropriately related field.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, ERP systems (Sage100, SAP, Oracle, etc.)

Location: Position will be based in Taneytown, MD and will travel 5% of the time to the various Evapco plant locations and suppliers in the US.
