Senior Accountant
Department: Accounting
Status: Exempt
Employee Classification: Regular Full-time
Reports To: Director of Finance
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Job Summary: This individual supports the accounting department and the Director of Finance in accurately and efficiently producing financial analysis reporting and interpretation.
Essential Functions:
- Month-end, and year-end closing process, account reconciliation and correcting journal entries
- Maintain costing standards for manufacturing costs and labor
- Analyze production costs and recommend changes as needed
- Analyze manufacturing operations capacity by product line and equipment
- Analyze and maintain annual pricing changes for customers
- Maintain the fixed asset and associated depreciation schedules
- Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations are part of month end close process
- Prepare monthly financial statement and analysis
- Adjust forecasts as directed
- Assist sales team with new customer proposals by analyzing latest labor and ingredient costs
- Assist Director and CFO in the annual budgeting process
- Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested – quite often on short notice
- Develop mutually beneficial business partnerships with customer service and operations that deliver process improvements and results
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be a team player and have ability to work independently, displaying initiative and resilience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with 4-5 years accounting experience, is required
- Manufacturing costing experience is required
- General ledger, month and year end close, including preparation of reconciliations and correcting journal entries are required
- Must have an emphasis on completeness and accuracy
- Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data
- Must have extensive use of accounting software
- Must have advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Must have the ability to work with and maintain confidential information
- Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must have a tolerance for ambiguity when tackling projects
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout Company organization
