Job Summary:The Certified Medication Technician is responsible for safe administration of prescribed medications and treatments as listed on Medication Administration Record (MAR). The Medication Technicianalsoprovides personal care to residents as needed/assigned and ensures delivery of care and services to residents in the community to include Activities of Daily Living(ADLs), room cleanliness, scheduled activities and dining services and individual service plan needof each assigned resident.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Administer medications safelyensuring the six rights of medication administration arefollowed.
- Count and sign the approved form, all narcotics with approved personnel beforeaccepting medication keys. Alert Director of Health and Wellness (DHW) immediatelywith discrepancies.
- Ordermedication and treatments from appropriate pharmacy or notify responsibleparty whensupply is no less than 7 days.
- Notify Director of Health & Wellness or Executive Director (ED) when supply is lessthan two daysand medicine has not been received.
- Receive and verify medicine received is accurate according to pharmacy label andMAR. Notify the pharmacy and Director of Health & Wellness of discrepancies.
- Store medications properly and ensure lotions, ointments, and liquids are storedseparately from oral medications.
- Date appropriate vials/bottles at time of initial opening and follow pharmacy protocolon length oftime they can be used.
- Inspect medications weekly to ensure expired medications are removed
- Verify current MARs are compared to new MARs at change over time and notify Director of Health & Wellness of discrepancies.
- Remove discontinued medication fromthe medicationcart and give them totheDirector of Health & Wellness.
- Providepersonal care to residents including, but not limited to, bathing, skin care, oralhygiene,grooming, dressing, incontinence care, eating, etc.
- Document appropriate information in daily log as required, notify ShiftLeadand DHWofconcerns.
- Answer callsand assist residents withtheirneeds as assigned.
- Follow company standards, policies and practices to include, but not limited to,attendance, dress code, etc.
- Assist in dining room with setting tables, serving meals. and clearingthediningroom as assigned.
- Assist with scheduled activities and housekeeping as assigned.
- Relieve other direct care staff for breaks as assigned.
- Clean medicine carts daily attheend of shift and restock as needed.
- Perform weekly deep cleaning of medicine carts.
- Attendand participate in staff training and in-services.
- Maintain accurate records to include preparation of medical charts for newadmissions andreadmissions and ensure medical record is complete within forty-eight (48) hours as Policy and Procedure (P&P) and regulatory guidelines.
- Perform all duties in adherence of established policies and procedures, federal,state, and localregulations.
- Maintain satisfactory attendance and report for duty as scheduled.
- Organize and manage multiple priorities in anefficient manner.
- Commit and adhere to company values and policies.
- Accurately perform and record vital signs, height and weight.
- Accurately calculate and record weight gain/loss and fluid intake/output.
- Maintain a clean and safe resident environment.
- Recognize abnormal changes in body functioning and the importance of reporting suchchanges to asupervisor.
- Perform routine care rounds on each assigned resident, at minimum, every twohours (or morefrequently as indicated).
- Performs other related duties as assigned

- Display excellent interpersonal andcommunication skills including ability tospeak and writeeffectively.
- Able to concentrate with frequent interruptions.
- Able to work under stress and in emergency situations.
- Able to talk and hear effectively to convey instructions and information toresidents and teammembers
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Successfully complete the Medical Technician class.
- Current Medication Technician Certification as per state regulations required.
- Minimum of one yearworking with a senior population with strong interestin medicaladministrative responsibilities.
- Must be 18 years of age or over
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand,walk,sit,and climbstairs. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 30 pounds.
- Able to stand or walk 75% of the day
