Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide care and support to individuals with disabilities in various settings such as group homes, nursing homes, and home care environments.
Duties
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, grooming, and dressing
- Monitor and record vital signs as needed
- Provide emotional support and companionship to individuals
- Assist with meal preparation and cooking when necessary
- Observe and report any changes in the individual's condition or behavior
- Support individuals in social activities and community outings
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members to ensure the well-being of the individuals
Skills
- Experience in patient observation and working with people with disabilities
- Knowledge of long-term care practices and procedures
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with working in group home settings is a plus
- Basic understanding of nursing home operations
