Responsibilities:
We’re seeking a Fitness Lead to join our team. As our new Fitness Lead you will:
- Establish and maintain a solid client relationship.
- Develop annual strategic plans and attain short and long term program goals.
- Manage the budget and reporting.
- Hire, train and supervise full and part-time staff; develop staff, and manage performance.
- Successfully manage personal training and group exercise programs and departments.
- Provide mentorship to college interns.
- Perform fitness assessments, determine exercise prescriptions, and conduct first workouts for a diverse population, including high-risk exercise participants.
- Supervise and monitor the exercise floor.
- Provide administrative support to members, including membership enrollments, terminations, and general inquiries.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Design, deliver and manage cutting edge group fitness programs that excite and encourage members to participate
- Recruit and hire creative, enthusiastic and educated instructors to lead a variety of classes
- Create onboarding schedule and deliver hands on onboarding to all new instructors
- Conduct performance evaluations/class audits of instructors on a regular basis
- Facilitate all GEX instructor class coverage needs and be main point of contact in finding necessary coverage
- Assist Exos team in day to day operational needs within the facility such as helping cover front desk, auditing GEX studio facilities and inventory, and assisting with other event initiatives as they arise from the client or the tenant base
- Work with program manager to deliver requested direct tenant and community events
- Find opportunities to tour different facilities, take introductory classes, and identify new trends in the industry with class formats and top of the line instructors
- Represent EXOS at group fitness conferences and tradeshows for networking and recruiting purposes, as well as to stay on top of “what’s hot” in the industry
- Offer specialty training programs to staff, such as “choreography forums” to help promote team building and skill sharing at local site and among all area sites.
- Mentor staff and members who are interested in learning how to teach group exercise and preparing them for the certification experience
- Support and facilitate continuing education by making staff aware of upcoming local events and encouraging groups of staff to participate in these events, as well as promoting certifications and specialty certifications to help grow and develop instructor versatility
- Secure master classes with leading instructors, as well as promote other Specialty Class (fee-for-service) group exercise programs to help drive revenue
- A minimum of 2 years of management experience overseeing a large staff in hospitality/fitness industry
- Minimum of two years of experience actively leading successful group exercise classes
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Related Field (Kinesiology, Exercise Science, etc.)
- A current nationally recognized accredited personal training certification
- Current nationally accredited group exercise certification (e.g. AFAA, ACE, ACSM, NETA)
- Instructors teaching licensed/branded formats (e.g. Zumba) must also be trained and licensed to teach those formats
- A current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification or the ability and willingness to obtain certifications prior to hire.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of modifying exercise programs for high risk clientele, as well as a solid understanding of safe vs contraindicated exercises
- An outgoing personality and excellent communication skills
- Superior customer service skills
- Proficient with computer skills, especially Excel & PowerPoint.
