- Assist Lead Inspection Engineers on structural inspections of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and overhead sign supports throughout Ontario.
- Gain hands-on experience and one-on-one mentorship while working closely with senior structural engineers.
- Assist with the structural design, production and contract packaging of transit and transportation projects for various clients.
- Maintain coordination and assembly of design packages using strong organizational and interpersonal skills to manage information flow among and between team members.
- Communicate effectively (both verbally and written) with internal team members in the development of designs and contract package preparation on transportation structures.
- Assist in the review of drawings and associated documentation for compliance with client requirements, organize comments, responses and package submissions for the design and inspection teams.
- Assist Engineers in the design and preparation of contract documents, including drawings and calculations, for bridge and transit structures, culverts, and ancillary infrastructure.
- Apply advanced engineering techniques to solving engineering analysis/design problems.
- Provide assistance in the preparation of proposals to various clients.
- As a team member, you will be working in a team-oriented environment and will have exposure to highway engineering, traffic, environmental, geotechnical, foundations, and landscape design disciplines.
What your experience looks like
- 0-2 Years of experience
- University degree in Civil Engineering with a structural major.
- Eligibility for registration or registered as an EIT with PEO.
- Understanding of carrying out structural designs for various structural elements.
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering projects with variety in complexity, size and scope is an asset.
- Prior experience in biennial or structural inspections of bridges and culverts in accordance with OSIM requirements will be considered an asset.
- Valid G driver’s license and comfortable driving for extended periods.
- Experience in preparing structural designs and contract packages for the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) and various municipalities in Ontario will be an asset.
- Use of personal vehicle to access local sites when company vehicle or rental is not provided.
- Understanding that work will combine fieldwork and office/desk activities.
- Knowledge of the following computer programs is also an asset: MicroStation, AutoCAD, SAP 2000, CSI Bridge, P-Frame/S-Frame, STAAD, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
