Position: Assistant Manager (Full-Time)
Position Description: Assistant Managers exist to help manage and uphold the standards of quality of Expedition Escape and ultimately the reputation we have created. They encourage, serve, and empower their team to uphold our service and hospitality standards as well. Assistant Managers should be charismatic, quick learners with strong attention to detail, but most importantly, should have a knack for hospitality, customer service, and managing a team.
How Assistant Managers Serve Our Guests and Our Teams:
- Creating a fun, positive atmosphere
- Opening and closing the store
- Helping the Manager lead a team of 10-25
- Actively setting an example for team members by ensuring that all Expedition Escape’s procedures are maintained and followed
- Provide exceptional customer service and ensure staff provide the same level of service
- Consistently ensure high standard of customer service is being conducted
- Maintain, encourage, and possess “ownership mentality”
- Work closely with Manager to lead staff
- Monitor workflow and delegate tasks to team members by providing leadership and direction to all staff
- Ensuring that all job duties/assignments have been completed
- Managing all staff to ensure they are following procedures (reporting to Manager if disciplinary action is needed)
- Helping Manager hire all new Expedition Guides
- Helping to mentor and train all Expedition Guides in accordance with our procedures
- Helping Manager create the schedule for all staff, actively maintaining it and ensuring it is set a minimum of two (2) weeks ahead of time
- Managing any/all conflict, both with guests and staff in a timely manner
- Answering phones professionally and with enthusiasm
- Enthusiastically explaining our games and answering any guest questions
- Have the ability to sell any of our products to services to a wide range of customers (corporate groups, non-profit groups, family/individual groups, etc.)
- Ensuring daily upkeep of the facility by:
- ― Making sure the facility is kept safe and clean
- ― Addressing broken props and retouching anything
- ― Complying with all safety rules and regulations by completing daily checklists
- Tracking inventory of merchandise and managing cash flow
- Accurately making reservations using reservation software
- Acting as an Expedition Guide when needed (weekdays and sometimes weekends)
- Additional duties as required
Expected Weekly Hours: 40-45
Expected Schedule: Wednesday – Sunday (possible exceptions: a private event, team meeting, all during off hours, etc.)
Job Requirements:
• At least 6 months of experience and mastery of the Expedition Guide position (internal training).
• Demonstrated leadership ability with 1-2 years’ experience in a guest-facing setting preferred.
• Flexible availability. This role often works nights, weekends, and /or holidays.
