Responsibilities:
Job Summary
The Specialist in R&D is a very organized, high functioning team member who supports the R&D & design teams with ongoing research, managing development, daily communication with cross-functional and overseas partners, the management of data entry and maintenance of files. They are very skilled at data entry in the PLM/PDM systems and are able to facilitate fast flow of accurate information from conception of the raw material idea through to bulk standard set up. They are a team player with interest in the area of R&D for their future career.

Essential Functions
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
  • Support the Trim R&D team and design partners in all aspects of fabric research and development including meeting with fabric vendors, help to submit design requests, responsible for development correspondence with overseas vendors/suppliers, and tracking development and swatch cards ready dates..
ADMINISTRATION
  • Demonstrate administrative competence by ensure proper and accurate data entry in the Yunique system. Assist in developing new administrative strategies, seeking better procedures when necessary. Supply all necessary support to the Trim team in addition to meticulous track all fabric development. Must be detailed oriented.
COMMUNICATION
  • Communication both internally and externally is an essential job function. Effectively receiving and providing information is a business critical task.
  • Communicate(s) on a daily basis with cross-functional teams & overseas offices to assist in workload and deliverables.
  • Respond promptly to correspondence both internally and externally – vendors, suppliers, factories and internal design/production/merchant partners.
YUNIQUE/PLM Data Entry & Reporting
  • Enter and Manage raw material data into the PLM/WEB PDM system for you assigned category(ies)
  • Raw material data from the BOM pages requires updating on a daily basis as information comes in from various cross-functional teams.
  • Read and react to all email communication on seasonal development, independently checking information to insure that the trim data is in the Yunique system. Recognize and discern if the information is incorrect or needs updating.
  • Communicate with team leader on business status concerning trim development and when issues arise.
  • Update Yunique with all relevant information from outside mills/vendors, creating accurate records for use by the entire company. Follow email communication from overseas vendors daily and update/maintain records with current information. Understand s/y ready dates for all seasonal raw materials and make sure they are on time for ISR sample making.
  • Work closely with the R&D team to ensure that items are entered into Yunique and that the next steps and proper actions are being executed.
Filing and Organizing
  • Assist in maintaining seasonal filing folders/binders. Impeccable accuracy and organizational skills are a must. Label fabric bins to be maintained current.
  • File all seasonal FAS sheets swatch cards – maintaining the fabric bins with accuracy.
  • Vendor and mill communication regarding submits including FAS/Testing/Standards and missing/late documents.
  • Save electronically in Yunique FAS, ITR, correspondence with mills.
  • Save electronically in Yunique seasonal fabric swatches
  • Able to create power point for fabric bulk approvals comments.
  • Overall assist the management of the physical data & documentation related to the fabric database
  • Ongoing maintenance of the fabric library every season. Make independent decisions as to what to keep/archive and what to edit.
  • Send and receiving of packages, developments, selections, handlooms and color standards.
  • Review development with R&D leader on a regular basis.
Job Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in a Textile related field
  • Years of Experience: 1 - 3
  • Eye for “Express” brand..
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to anticipate next.
  • Ability to work well with multiple team members. Positive team player attitude.
  • Sense of accountability and strong work ethic.
  • Punctuality & dependable attendance.
  • Proficiency in: WebPDM, Power Point, Windows (Outlook/ Word/ Excel).
  • Efficiency, accuracy and focus on all data entry work
  • Organized thought process applied to all tasks.
  • Good organizational skills, time management, attention to detail, problem solving, proactive.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Internship and or freelance in various roles in Fashion/ Raw Material Company
