About the Permian
Straddling West Texas and Southeastern New Mexico over an area roughly the size of Kansas, the Permian is the most prolific oil and gas basin in America and the engine behind the country’s energy renaissance.
Nationally, it provides about 40% of oil and 15% of gas production and plays a critical role in making the U.S. a leading energy exporter.
A key asset for ExxonMobil, the Basin accounts for about 40% of the Corporation’s net oil and gas production in the U.S. in 2021, with significant future growth potential.
Production reached more than 550,000 barrels per day in 2022 and is expected to surpass 800,000 barrels per day by 2027.
Many of these molecules travel down to ExxonMobil’s facilities along the Gulf of Mexico, where they are transformed into high-value finished products such as jet fuel and lubricants.
The Permian Basin business unit also has the distinction of being the first at ExxonMobil to unveil and execute a plan for net zero Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions in operated assets by 2030, as part of the Corporation’s broader 2050 net zero ambition.

What role you will play in our team
- Manage the daily execution of Upstream Oil & Gas related Construction Projects specific to the needs and specifications of the Company.
- Based in Carlsbad, NM on a 5 / 2 work schedule with considerations for weekend work activities.
- Working in remote areas.
What you will do
- Responsible for the Safe execution of projects.
- Leading by example setting the expectations for Safety First
- Manage the application of typical methods used for civil, structural, IC&E & piping construction.
- Collaborate with engineers, field personnel, and core contract vendors in the daily oversight & execution of ExxonMobil Upstream projects.
- Verify compliance with daily work schedules
- Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans.
- Allocate general and daily responsibilities.
- Ensure manpower and resources are adequate.
- Providing oversight and observance of all safety processes and quality standards.
- Assist with monitoring expenditure and ensuring budget compliance.
- Must be able to have situational awareness and determine resolutions.
- Providing Invoice verifications for goods and services received.
About you
Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of fabrication and installation best practices in the Upstream Oil & Gas Industry.
- Must have adequate communication skills with the ability to work with all stakeholders involved.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience in construction planning / execution.
- Must be able to identify any issues that may have an impact on the safety, cost, schedule, and quality of the project.
- Demonstrate ability to perform all job duties and responsibilities with minimal direct supervision.
- Basic understanding of QA / QC standards in regards to Upstream construction related projects
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
- Basic understanding of ASME section IX welding and fabrication standards.
- Basic understanding of Radiological and NDT services.
- Awareness of Master Flow Drawings and basic knowledge of Facility Construction.
- Understanding code, methods, and the work required to prepare for inspection.
