POSITION SUMMARY

Performs journeyman work in the shop and in the plan in the preparation for production of new tooling as well as revision changes, repair and maintenance of current molds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Troubleshooting of injection molds for repair work · Typical repairs include broken components, part flash, sticking parts, leaking water or some other improper function of the injection mold · Be able to repair or make new replacement components such as ejector pins, core pins, cam pins, sprue bushing, bolt/thread repair, polishing, etc.

Dismantles or partially dismantles molds to locate cause of malfunction or cause of part defect. Replaces or repairs damaged area and works with engineer and set up personnel to assure mold is operating correctly. Repair abilities to include those listed above as well as TIG Welding, electrode development, EDM and ProtoTrak capabilities. Completes appropriate work order documentation.

Perform full disassembly and re-assembly of injection molds which includes, but not limited to, the following abilities:

· Perform preventative maintenance of injection moldings including cleaning, inspection and re-greasing

· Perform cleaning on class “A” finishes including diamond polish and texture

· Perform ice blast cleaning on injection molds both in and out of the press

· Perform in press preventative maintenance with cleaning and re-greasing

· Perform tooling conversions both in and out of the press

· Test functionality of hot manifolds

· Perform water checks on molds and chemical cleaning of water lines

· Utilize the overhead crane to lift and manipulate large molds and mold components

· Operate the fork truck to load and unload molds from trucks

· Maintain organization and cleanliness in the tool room

· Support Production, Tool room, Metrology and Engineering through assigned projects

· Complete detailed documentation through IQMS work order module Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Understanding of injection mold tooling and the injection molding process

· Ability to take direction and work independently

· Ability to handle physical labor including getting in and out of injection mold presses, climbing ladders and lifting up to 75lbs on a regular basis

· Ability to utilize basic hand tools such as drills, wrenches, taps, sockets, pry bars and hammers

· Ability to utilize manual mills, grinders, lathes, cut-off tools, drill press and band saw · Experience working in an injection molding tool room

Works from verbal instructions, sketches and blueprints in modifying or fabricating special purpose equipment or fixtures using ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Completion of a recognized apprentice training program of at least four years duration including or supplemented by at least 2 years of experience or training in the repair, building and maintenance of close tolerance plastic injection molds or five years of experience on the job – one year of which must have been at the journeyman level.

Computer literate to enable effective communications and accurate and timely completion of work orders and other documentation regarding work done or needing to be done on tools.

Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 75#. Must also be capable of pushing, pulling and maneuvering a minimum of 100# in order to work on and maneuver tools on the work bench that may weigh several thousand pounds.

Must have the ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English, in order to discuss problems, finding and recommendations with co-workers, engineers and production personnel.

Must be self -motivated individual with a positive attitude, a demonstrated ability to get along with others and communicate directors and requirements in a clearly understood and pleasant manner.

Must have 20/20 near vision. Corrective lenses many be used to achieve such quality of vision. If corrective lenses are needed, that corrective lens must be worn while on duty.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $1.00 - $2.00 per hour
