Molder Maker Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced mold maker to manage and operate the tool shop. This is an excellent opportunity to learn new skills and fully utilize existing ones. Our programs and processes are varied and challenging. Responsible for repairing tools, molds, and fixtures for injection molding machines in a timely and efficient manner with minimal supervision.
Mold Maker Essential Functions
- SolidWorks, AutoCAD and Mastercam experience is a plus.
- Operate all tool room manual machines, milling Lath, surface grinders and hand surface grinders holding tight tolerances.
- Program and operate CNC Mill.
- Repair and trouble shoot molds.
- Work closely with engineering to review new and existing tooling designs.
- Suggest mold design improvement ideas for tool efficiency, tool life and safety.
- Plan and execute assigned internal tool making or major PM and report progress.
- Inspect existing tools to collect information and evaluate the mold rebuild.
- Review checklist to evaluate procedures.
- Support team members in various ways to reduce waste and optimize productivity.
- Select, check, make or repair tools, molds, fixtures, work holdings, and electrodes.
- Check blueprint and mold specifications.
- Perform routine and complex repairs.
- Keep the work area neat and orderly.
- Receive, understand, and follow written and oral instructions.
- Complete all paperwork associated with position.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures including attendance, safety, and ISO.
Mold Maker Required Experience
- 5 years of experience in mold making preferred.
- CNC Milling machining.
- Conventional machining equipment.
- Mold building.
- CAM software (Mastercam).
- 3D Modeling (Solidworks).
- Basic computer skills.
- Management skills.
Mold Maker Physical Demands and Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Frequently required lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds.
- Frequently required standing, bending, squatting, and reaching with hands and arms.
- Regularly required to stand for extended periods, walk, talk, and hear.
- Ability to use hand tools.
- Ability to read applicable instructions.
