Fairview Health Services is looking for a part-time, benefit eligible Laboratory Care Technician at M Health Fairview Woodwinds Hospital.
This position will be days for 0.8FTEs (64hours/2 week pay period) and every other weekend days. Weekday shifts have a start time of 5:30am, and an end time of 2:00pm. Weekend shifts have a start time of 5:30am and an end time of 2:00pm.

The main responsibility for this role is to help draw inpatients for Woodwinds Hospital. There will also be the expectation to help cover processing in the laboratory as needed, and to help draw outpatients. Outpatient draws include the outpatient lab within the hospital, our respiratory/pulmonary function clinic as well as our cancer care clinic for difficult to draw patients. There is also an expectation to collect newborn screens. Processing will occur in the lab and involves receiving specimens, centrifuging and aliquoting as necessary.
The Woodwinds Laboratory cares for a hospital of over 80 beds. We see all patients from pediatrics to geriatrics. Our service lines include Obstetrics, Emergency Medicine, Oncology, and general surgery. Our Laboratory offers a robust generalist experience for prospective employees.

Responsibilities Job Description
Working with diverse populations within a healthcare environment, the LCT plays a meaningful role in providing quality, proficient and professional services in keeping with Fairview Values as they interact with our patients, families and co-workers. The LCT performs laboratory specimen collection, as well as, provides for safe and secure specimen handling and point of care testing. Responsible for accurately entering orders and collection information into the Laboratory Information System and associated subsystems; monitoring computer logs for incomplete work; scheduling tests/procedures and providing results in LIS/HIS and over the phone, the LCT's attention to detail and accuracy are the foundation for our providing quality laboratory services. Working as an individual or team member, the LCT continuously works towards providing quality service improvement and optimum support to the department and team members in achieving Fairview's goals.

Qualifications
Required
- At least 18 years of age
Education
- Completion of a formal phlebotomy education program OR-
- Completion of three months of full-time clinical phlebotomy and laboratory experience OR-
- Enrollment in MLT or MLS program, including completion of a phlebotomy course.
Experience
- Successful customer service background within a diverse cultural setting
Preferred
- Prior laboratory experience in a hospital or clinic setting in a similar capacity
