Position Description: You must be able to act as the Supervising Nurse and as the Alternate Administrator at the same time.The Supervising Nurse, in accordance with policies and standards established by the Governing Body, and under the direct supervision of the Administrator, assists with the planning, coordination, leading, controlling and evaluation of home health services. The Supervising Nurse is responsible for coordination and liaison with appropriate parent and affiliate Departments and committees; development of policies and guidelines for and obtaining input from service personnel and providing professional input to related administrative systems. He/she directs and supervises professional and auxiliary personnel rendering client care services, performs marketing duties, and fosters public relations for the company, consults and plans with health care facilities regarding staffing needs, and communicates the concept of quality client care to the general community. The Supervising Nurse interprets service needs to the Administrator and acts as a client services administrative liaison. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Supervising Nurse must: Be available to the Agency at all times. She or her designee may be available in person or via telecommunication. Participate in activities relevant to professional services furnished including the development of qualifications and assignment of Agency personnel Assure a reassessment of a client’s needs is performed by the appropriate health care professional when there is a significant health status change in the client’s condition: at the physician’s request, or after hospital discharge. Assure that a client’s plan of care is executed as written Define and communicate to staff members indications of significant change which should be communicated to the RN and or physician by field staff. Participates, with the Administrator, in the formulation of a business plan, i.e., strategic goals, resource allocation plan(s) and a yearly budget. Performs other duties as assigned by the Administrator The Alternate Administrator is a qualified employee appointed to administer, direct, and coordinate all administrative and financial activities of the home health agency (HCSSA) in the absence of the Administrator and as assigned. The Alternate Administrator may also perform other jobs as identified through signed job descriptions.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: In the absence of or in support of the Administrator, organizes and directs the Agency's ongoing functions: Supervises total operation of the Agency. The Alternate Administrator maintains responsibility for implementing and supervising the administrative policies and operations of the Agency, and for administratively supervising the provision of all services to agency clients on a day-to-day basis. Manage the daily operations of the agency Administratively supervise the provision of quality care to agency clients Ensure documentation of services provided is accurate and timely Employ or contract with qualified personnel Ensure adequate staff education and evaluations according to regulation Supervise client satisfaction surveys and evaluate findings on all clients served. Job Conditions: Position is stressful in meeting deadlines. Must be able to hear and speak in a manner understood by most people. Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing. Must be able to read, write and comprehend English. Home visits may also be part of the job function. The position requires the ability to drive extensively in a geographic area. Must be able to access clients' homes which will not be routinely wheelchair accessible. Hearing, eyesight, and physical dexterity must be sufficient to perform a physical assessment of the client's condition and to perform and demonstrate client care. May be requested by the Administrator or Chief Executive Officer to attend outside meetings and/or conferences. May be required to implement emergency operations plan in event of disaster or extreme operational conditions. Equipment Operation: Utilizes PC, Calculator, Smartphone, or Digital Tablet, 10-line telephone, and other related office equipment. Minimum Requirements:Registered Nurse with active, unrestricted license in Texas, preferably with a bachelor’s degree. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 2 years of home health care experience is preferred. At least three years’ experience in health care field is preferred, one-year minimum required as RN within the last 36 months. Supervisory or administrative experience in home health care or related health program is preferred. As supervising nurse of the pediatric program, the RN must have pediatric knowledge and skills. Documentation of pediatric competency is required.
