Position Purpose:
Provides direct leadership to youth activities, summer camps, and other youth programs. This includes supervision of related personnel, facilities, budgets, and equipment. Responsible for providing outstanding member service, supervising facility rules, and safety enforcement.
**This position is a temporary full-time position during the months of June-August; part-time during the months of September-May.**
Education, Experience, & Skills (Minimum Requirement):
High School Diploma or GED required. Preferred education/skills include: bachelor's degree in sport and recreation management, education, exercise science, child development, or related field. Two years' experience working in the field of study is preferred. Must have effective interpersonal and customer service skills, leadership skills, be organized, and detail oriented. Experience in program design and or special events coordination preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirement(s):
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification required upon hire or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
- Oversees and coordinates youth and summer camp activities including budget, staffing, equipment, camp lessons/programs, and supply needs.
- Provides direct daily supervision of camp/youth participants and camp activities as well as supervising camp and youth staff to assure department objectives are being met.
- Hires, trains, schedules, and manages staff for programming and effectively communicates job responsibilities.
- Communicates effectively with camp/program participants, parents, staff, volunteers, members, and answers questions.
- Provides coverage for department to assure scheduled shifts are adequately filled.
- Provides method for assessing program outcomes, safety, and quality in order to best impact the health of the community and families.
- Keeps equipment repaired and functional and keeps activity area clean and organized at all times to ensure safety.
- Monitors and communicates with members and youth in a friendly, enthusiastic, professional, and positive manner and creates a fun environment for activities.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
BLOOD EXPOSURE
This position has a low risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials. Training is required upon hire and maintained yearly.
Salary : $18 - $23
