THE ROLE
Sales Executive, Market Advisory
The Sales Executive, Market Advisory position is a strategic sales role focused on developing, selling, and refining our crop marketing program and related service offerings of FBN BR LLC. This position is also part of a development program that will allow top performing individuals to graduate into advisory, merchandising, risk management and other key roles within the Commodity Crop Marketing business at FBN. A crop marketing background with an advanced grasp of grain marketing, and/or markets is a must. As a Sales Executive, Market Advisory, your responsibilities will include:
Market Intelligence and Market Advisory Sales:
- Independently collaborate with Farm Market Advisors on a daily basis at an account level to provide the best farmer experience and generate referrals
- Make on farm sales calls to farmers to generate leads, prioritize and manage your sales pipeline, and provide warm leads for the Market Advisory, Brokerage and Market Advisory Pro offerings at FBN
- Manage the effective transition of new clients into our advisory programs
- Use Salesforce and other SaaS tools to manage, prioritize, and document all interactions and sales calls with farmers
- Deploy to the Sioux Falls office or Director of Sales office on an as-needed basis
Grain Origination via FBN Cash Contracts:
- Become knowledgeable on our risk management instruments, which include standard grain pricing contracts and more complex structured grain contracts
- Execute a Farmers First℠ sales process: facilitate farmer trust by assisting farmers in executing the right contracts for their operation
- Operate independently to generate quotes and close contracts for a variety of FBN virtual elevator
FBN Brokerage Platform Sales:
- Discuss FBN Brokerage offering, provide brokerage platform demos, assist with the platform application process, and work with our trade desk to onboard customers onto the brokerage platform
Emerging Product Offering Research and Sales:
- Support FBN Crop Marketing product development by working with FBN members to research and sell new and emerging products and program offerings
- Gather feedback from farmers and work with the Crop Marketing business unit to tweak and improve product offerings
FBN Brand Awareness:
- Demonstrate continued expertise on our market-leading and proprietary agronomic data product
- Demonstrate continued proficiency in communicating our diverse set of service offerings including FBN Finance, FBN Direct, and the FBN Marketplace
QUALIFICATIONS
We're looking for confident, motivated, competitive, and innovative individuals with a strong work ethic and an appetite for big rewards. Desired characteristics/qualifications include:
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a grain marketing role such as grain trading, merchandising, origination, or brokerage
- Comfortable cold calling and prospecting farmers in the field
- A passing score on the Series 3/30 exams (the National Commodities Futures Examination administered by FINRA)
- Fluency in futures, options, hedging, and risk management concepts and offerings
- Graduate with an Agronomy, Sales, Marketing, Business, and Economics-related bachelor’s degree
- Proven ability to excel in a self-guided work environment
- Passionate about agriculture and farming; a desire to put the farmer first
- Comfortable using and explaining technology products/services
- A willingness to work in a fast-paced, competitive environment where sales achievement will be directly rewarded
- Willingness to travel 10%+ of time
