Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, kneeling, prolonged typing, physical ability to type on a keyboard terminal, and moving light furniture may be required.
Equipment/Technology Handled: Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.
Work Environment: Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide basic healthcare to students in case of injury or acute illness, serving as a healthcare consultant for school personnel, students, and their families.
- Ensure school environment is safe for children and school staff (e.g. prevention of communicable diseases and participating in disease prevention and outbreak management within the school)
- Ensure compliance with national and local health laws
- Update and keep track of student’s medical history, developing health plans for students with chronic illnesses and disabilities
- Collaborate with school staff to provide a coordinated school health program including but not limited to immunization compliance, detection of health problems in early stages through vision and hearing screening, medication administration, scheduled procedures including but not limited to: trach care, g-tubes, catheterizations and diabetic management
- Development and training of school staff that has the potential to provide health services, including but not limited to the administration of medication to students, Epi-pen and narcan administration, and recognizing the signs and symptoms of diabetes.
- Collaboration with Central Kitchen and Bus Barn to maintain student health related to allergies and daily health concerns while outside of the classroom
- Assist students, families and staff to achieve optimal levels of wellness through health education/promotion, including classroom instruction on healthy habits, including but not limited to proper nutrition, hygiene, puberty and STI’s
- Engagement with community members about school/community health services
- Write referrals for pediatricians and other health specialists
- Development/coordination of quality improvement activities for the school health services component of the school health program.
- Assure the appropriate documentation is maintained for school health services and activities.
- Coordinate training in First Aid/CPR/First Responder Program for schools and staff.
- Monthly AED testing and Compliance
- Participate in the development of the school’s emergency health and crisis plan.
- Apply nursing theory as the basis for decision-making in the school setting while expanding knowledge and skills.
- Plan for and manage the resources for which he/she is responsible, including personnel and supplies needed in the health office
- Communicate accurately and effectively
- Serve as a healthy role model for students, families and staff
- Work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors and administrators
- Maintain confidentiality of students and staff
- Perform personnel functions of supervising, training, delegation of duties and staff development of healthroom assistants
- Coordinate the operation of the school health office
- Documentation, compilation, and analysis of data for required reports on school health services.
- Develop a system for the identification of students with special health care needs
- Other duties as deemed necessary by supervisor
