Construction Operator/laborer

Overview:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. To perform this job successfully, the Operator may be expected to perform some or all of the duties listed, and other duties as assigned.

Summary: Assist in mobilization/demobilization of drill equipment for jobs as directed. Assist construction team in daily field/yard operations of rig, and use of other equipment.

Primary Responsibilities

Assist in the mobilization of drilling equipment for jobs as directed. Load drill pipe, mud and well components.

Operate heavy equipment to support cathodic protection system installation.

Drive equipment to and from job location. Complete field assignments as directed.

Assist in the operations of rig by handling drill pipe, mixing drill mud and handling casing and other equipment.

Assist in the cleaning of equipment after each job as directed and, as needed, clean equipment yard and perform other duties as assigned.

Perform maintenance and cleaning of equipment and work area as directed.

Physical requirements include standing, squatting and heavy lifting over long periods during workday as per the pre-placement Human Performance Evaluation.

Work around potentially hazardous materials.

Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge

High school diploma or equivalent required.

1-3 years related experience preferred.

Must be equipment oriented and understand mechanics of drilling machinery.

Skills

With excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Must be able to demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude and/or a good understanding of construction.

Physical Demands

Must be in good physical condition, able to work in all weather conditions, and capable of wearing appropriate health and safety equipment, including but not limited to a respirator.

Must be physically fit to work in strenuous manual labor position with possible hazardous waste exposure. Must able be able to meet physical parameters of DOT.

Required to lift heavy equipment and materials, often in excess of 50 lbs.

Driller Helper shall be capable of pushing a standard two-handle construction wheelbarrow loaded with a typical concrete sample for a distance of 40 feet.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent

Experience operating heavy equipment

Enjoy working outside

Ability to travel out of town for work as needed

Experience with a mud rotary drill rig a plus

Experience with water well & cathodic protection wells a plus

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Class A or CDL required
