POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for preparing menu items for serving. Portions a variety food items prior to serving, such as meats, cheeses, vegetables, soups, etc. according to established par levels and restaurant specifications. Responsible for maintaining a sanitary and safe work area
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complies with all recipe portion sizes, quality standards, department rules, policies and procedures.
- Selects meats, vegetables, fruits, cheeses and other products for preparation.
- Prepares soups according to recipe.
- Ensures food safety standards are met, i.e., proper food temperatures, proper food handling, proper labling of prepped products, hand washing, using proper cutting boards, etc. and abides by state, local and federal health regulations.
- Maintains a clean, sanitary, safe work station at all times.
- Maintains organization of dry storage, cooler and freezer areas.
- May receive and expedite menu items "per order".
- Selects and uses knives, slicers, handtools, utensils and equipment to portion, cut, slice, carve, garnish, or otherwise produce food in the kitchen. Will use cut resistant glove when using a knife.
- May assist in unloading and stocking product deliveries.
- Will perform any restaurant function as needed.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & EDUCATION:
- Entry level position. Some restaurant kitchen experience preferred.
- High School degree preferred, but not required. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to bend and stoop frequently.
- Must be able to stand and exert well paced mobility for periods of up to five hours in length.
- Must have the ability to lift objects of up to 50 pounds in weight.
- Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to management and other associates.
- Must wear slip resistant shoes at all time while working.
