Federated Group is a premier private brand sales/marketing firm specializing in the retail grocery and foodservice industries. Federated provides services in brokerage, brand management, supply chain consolidation and design services. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Account Executive (Sales) to join our on-site team at our customer’s headquarter offices located in Asheville, NC.
This role is a sales position and through a consultative selling approach a successful candidate will be responsible for working collaboratively with the customer to develop and execute strategic plans for private label growth as well as strengthen category position through increasing distribution of Private Label products.
This individual will be accountable for understanding the unique requirements of the customer, work with the vendor community to develop appropriate private label solutions and continually sell the customer on the benefits of private label. The individual will be responsible for the entire product life-cycle from strategic activities to tactical implementation including idea generation; customer needs analysis; market segmentation; requirements gathering; business case development and analysis; pricing strategy; and operational planning.
An ideal candidate will be a self-starter and have working knowledge of the item development and lifecycle management processes as well as a strong understanding of the consumer product goods industry. The candidate must have demonstrated success in applying time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple competing priorities. This individual must possess high attention to detail and have strong Excel and technical skills.
In addition, the ideal candidate will have a work ethic that thrives on independent activity combined with a sense of urgency and efficient use of time. This individual must never lose sight of the fact he or she is part of a larger cross functional team that must work together to effectively execute the customer’s defined goals using the resources budgeted.
In sum, the successful candidate will be someone with professional accomplishments that: reflect self-motivation, initiative, strong listening, communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated experience in quickly cultivating key contacts within the industry, including vendors to create and maintain strong business relationships; show an ability to work with the customer and across corporate divisions to successfully manage projects; and be a critical thinker with a demonstrated ability to deliver results.
Requirements include a minimum of two (2) years’ account sales experience ideally in the private label segment within a retail grocery trade business. Ability to conduct quarterly category and business reviews. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with advanced level Excel skills and data analysis. Must have the ability to travel, including overnight.
