Reports To: Director of Operations

Status: Exempt 

Salary Range: $48,000-$53,000

SUMMARY

The Warehouse Manager provides support and assistance to the Operations Manager and Director of Operations. The Warehouse Manager manages a team of warehouse associates and oversees the daily operations in all areas of the warehouse, including receiving, shipping, inventory, safety, and facilities management.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Provide direct supervision of warehouse team members including training employees, planning, assigning and directing work.
  • Provide regular training to staff in order to uphold quality assurance and safety standards.
  • Provide updates and reports to the Operations Director and/or other senior staff members as requested.
  • Develop and foster positive working relationships with FTB internal department leadership personnel to streamline communication and effectiveness.
  • Maintains warehouse team effectiveness by coaching and counseling employees.
  • Ensure warehouse layout and organizations support the flow of traffic, reduces stock losses and boosts overall efficiency.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase warehouse efficiencies and productivity.
  • Develop, review, implement and maintain SOPs to ensure compliance.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and synchronization efforts to promote interdepartmental cohesiveness.
  • Ensure that the warehouse is clean and organized at all times.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Inventory Control:

  • Implement and maintain inventory control procedures to ensure that all product received, stored and distributed is properly accounted for.
  • Ensure all product adheres to the Food Bank’s quality control standards and any product that does not meet those standards are properly accounted and disposed of.
  • Ensure product rotation procedures (including first in/first out method) are implemented and followed.
  • Provide assistance with inventory cyclic counts for inventory control purposes.
  • Ensure most efficient flow of product working closely with the Inventory Manager and other leadership team members as needed.

Facility and Equipment Management:

  • Ensure warehouse operations is in compliance with Feeding America, AIB, donor, OSHA, Health Department and USDA standards.
  • Serves as 24-hour emergency contact in event of equipment failure, burglar alarms, etc.
  • Maintain contracts with vendors in order to ensure that all warehouse best practices are maintained including pest control, janitorial, and others as needed.
  • Supervise daily upkeep of all equipment and maintain maintenance logs for equipment including refrigeration, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
  • Ensure the Food Bank’s facility and surrounding grounds are well-maintained address any deficiencies in a prompt and professional manner.

Food Safety:

  • Maintenance of a food safety culture within the warehouse.
  • Maintains current Food Safety Handlers certification.
  • Inspect product donations to assure that safety and sanitation standards are met.
  • Monitor and maintain SOP’s for food safety.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two-year college degree or at least 4 years related experience.
  • 3 years experience required in supervising, warehousing, shipping, receiving, and or inventory control desirable.
  • May be required to work some weekends and/or adjust work.
  • Forklift operator certification. Ability to operate a hand truck, pallet jack, forklift and other mechanized warehouse equipment.
  • Valid Driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Certified to utilize forklifts, electrically powered pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment or the willingness to obtain certification within 30-days of employment.
  • Food safety certification is required; or the willingness to complete within 30-days of employment.
  • Lift, lower, push, pull, and carry items weighing up to 50lb for 8-hour shift.
  • Able to bend, stoop, crouch, climb, stand, sit, walk and turn/pivot throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Varying shifts which may require day, evening, and weekend work.
  • Commitment to FTB’s goal of ending hunger.
