PART TIME POSITION!! Fetch is seeking a detail oriented weekend Pharmacy/Lab Technician for our Brandon, Florida location.
The lab/pharmacy technicians main focus will be running blood work, filling prescriptions, maintaining Idexx lab equipment, and handling lab samples. This candidate will streamline the workflow and allow for the technicians and doctors to focus on patient care. Pharmacy/Lab Technician will run all in-house lab work for the emergency department during the weekend daytime shifts.
Essential Functions:
• Entering and processing new and refill prescriptions while maintaining productivity and quality standards
• Filling patients orders accurately by selecting and retrieving the appropriate medications, verify quantities, and preparing prescription labels for medications
• Forwarding orders to clinicians for completion, verification and or clarification
• Ensures client specific materials are paired with orders and prepare for pickup
• Run lab work, quality control in house laboratory machines, prepare digital and in house cytology for clinicians.
• Idexx equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
Additional Responsibilities
• Understanding of basic medication handling and care
• Knowledge of (or willingness and ability to learn) general lab diagnostics, blood smears, platelet counts, and general hematologic cytology
• Ability to accurately record all treatments and/or lab results into the patients’ invoice and medical record
• Assisting with laboratory inventory and report issues to the inventory manager
Requirements
Experience/Education Requirements
• Associate’s degree, a minimum of 3 years of equivalent work experience OR a combination of relevant education and experience
• Veterinary technician background with a knowledge of medical terms and medications required
