Job Description:

Essential Duties:
- Provides motivational support to assist counselors in meeting therapeutic goals.
- Supports treatment plans by reporting client observations (at a minimum twice per shift and subject to change depending on need) - on appropriate form (SAMMS/Incident Report/BOP documentation, etc.) - and supporting decisions concerning therapy, discipline, and privileges.
- Assists case manager/counselor with client activities by implementing scheduled and/or requested activities.
- Performs Inventory checks, checks incoming clothing and supplies of clients for quantity and specifically check for contraband items, in accordance with proper safety procedures - including but not limited to -emptying items into proper bin and never reaching into a client’s bag of articles. Inventory outgoing clothing and supplies of clients with same procedures as above.
- Obtains pertinent information from staff of previous shift to utilize during current shift and relay to next shift if appropriate.
- Works cooperatively with members of the nursing and medical staff to monitor clients’ vital signs, observe urine drops, monitor clients, and chart all pertinent data.
- Monitors client vital signs per physician’s orders.
- Monitor self-administration of medications by clients and document in SAMMS, MAR/PRN log according to regulations.
- Recognizes deviations from normal and is able to correct the deviation.
- Performs room and facility checks, at varying intervals, to ensure client’s comfort, safety, and well-being.
- Supervise and manage the behavior of clients and provide appropriate behavioral interventions and consequences.
- Performs all drug screen services to clients, including but not limited to urine analysis and oral swabs.
- Oversee the neatness of the unit and proper use of equipment and supplies and inform the proper person when supplies or repairs are needed.
Schedule: Monday - Sunday (3rd Shift) with flexibility to accommodate agency needs

Experience and Skills:
Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree (or higher) in Addiction Counseling, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Counseling, or a closely related curriculum, from an accredited institution encouraged to apply
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: IAODAPCA Certified Alcohol and Other Drugs Counselor (CADC) required or able to obtain within allotted time from hire date; IAODAPCA Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) encouraged to apply
