What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Supervisor - Detroit Terminal position at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles?
The Maintenance Supervisor directs and coordinates preventative maintenance and the repair of Stellantis/FCA Transport's private fleet of 130 semi tractors and 1000 standard van and drop deck trailers possessing the capacity to deliver 1000 to 1200 truckloads of automotive components and racks on a just-in-time basis between Detroit/Windsor area FCAT facilities and automotive suppliers.
Job responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Direct and coordinate the activities of maintenance department employees to perform timely and quality preventive maintenance, routine maintenance, and emergency repairs while maintaining a high level of productivity and client service
- Monitor the performance of maintenance department employees, taking positive steps to correct substandard performance, and provide feedback to subordinates and superiors regarding performance levels
- Identify training needs of the department to ensure that all personnel are kept up-to-date with developing technology, new maintenance practices, and refresher training as required
- Maintain a safe and healthy work area, correcting unsafe actions and conditions, investigating accidents, and promoting and enforcing all company and departmental safety policies, practices, and procedures
- Ensure the proper and accurate completion of all documents and records, including repair orders, as required
- Maintain the facility in a proper and efficient manner, ensuring good housekeeping and compliance with OSHA regulations and standards
- Conduct safe operations at all times; professional leadership behaviors required
- Carry out all assignments expeditiously
- Maintain environmental responsibilities as defined in Manufacturing Quality Assurance System (MQAS)/Enhanced Environmental Management System (EEMS) documents CGTP20000, CGTP200010, and CGTP200020
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical / engineering discipline required; or Journeymen status with minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
- Knowledge of the maintenance of tractor and trailer equipment
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources
- Knowledge of the transportation and/or logistics industry
- Supervisory experience
- Must be able to work any shift and weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supervising a union workforce
- Heavy duty equipment maintenance certifications
- Advanced computer skills
- Experience with labor agreements
