Field technicians shall be responsible for the installation of fiber for a variety of customers across the region while adhering to strict quality and industry standards with little or no supervision.
What You’ll Be Doing :
- Must be able to splice fiber or willing to learn.
- Responsible for all customer-related activities in the field.
- Install and integrate fiber equipment / router at customer premises and troubleshoot any issues with the Central Office.
- Follow a detailed method of procedures for the installation of a customer (SOP).
- Keep an inventory of all job-related material needed for installations.
- Read and interpret engineering specs and prints and be able to perform all physical and mechanical installation activities.
- Conducted work assignments, communicated, and assisted customers in a professional manner.
- Manage closing requirements / customer education for all assigned installations. (Verify the internet is up and verify those speeds with the customer).
- Assist customer in setting up their devices.
- Analyze and resolve network issues associated with equipment installations.
- Understand and follow all common and industry-specific safety standards to protect personnel and assure network integrity / reliability.
- Communicate as required with all departments to ensure the customer is taken care of in a timely manner.
What You’ll Bring :
- Minimum two years of experience in working on fiber networks.
- Minimum two years of experience in driving a company vehicle.
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours (i.e., shift work), including nights and weekends, when needed.
- Ability to identify all colors associated with fiber cable and equipment indicator lights.
- Ability to learn and retain physical and mechanical installation specifications.
- Ability to make fiber connectors, splicing & terminate power connections.
Who You Are :
- You have a high level of computer hardware / software experience with skills and knowledge in Microsoft Office product lines, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- You are a team player and have excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- You have effective written and oral communication skills in English.
- You have a good understanding of basic mechanical terms and tools.
