SUMMARY 


The Outreach Coordinator's primary responsibilities are to establish an effective network of contacts within the community and participate in the recruitment and placement of disconnected youth aged 18-24 into our workforce development and educational programs. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES includes, but not limited to the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.


  • Visit various sites throughout Kern County to promote our workforce development and educational programs and to recruit potential work experience (FIELD's WEX) participants.
  • Locate and research local organizations to establish partnerships for the work experience (FIELD's WEX) program outreach and recruitment activities.
  • Maintain and enhance a positive image of the organization through presentations and networking. 
  • Identify the leader of the work, church, social groups, etc. to communicate and educate them about our programs and have them assist us in recruitment and promotion of our FIELD's WEX program.
  • With permission, visit sites such as churches, stores (supermarket, swap-meets, homes, mobile home parks, etc.) to set up tables/booths and educate the community about the FIELD's WEX program. 
  • Participate in street outreach and visit local residences–areas of high poverty with a high volume of the target population–to inform them of our FIELD's WEX program. 
  • Develop and distribute informative marketing materials targeting disconnected youth aged 18-24, to educate and encourage them to participate in our FIELD's WEX program. 
  • Collaborate with the FIELD's WEX program team and contribute to the development of an effective structure for outreach and recruitment.
  • Maintain a database of recruitment sites and recruitment method(s). 
  • Collect and analyze data on local community and participant demographics.
  • Data entry of all gathered participant information.
  • Document and provide reports to management on progress toward goals. 
  • Submits required reports in a timely manner, such as recruitment, demographics, mileage logs and time-sheets.
  • Assist potential participants in navigating the FIELD's WEX program, being their main point of contact. 
  • Support Case Manager(s) in scheduling appointments with potential participants to enroll in FIELD's WEX program.

  • Must be able to learn policies and procedures for FIELD and the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
  • Must be able to learn the ethical guidelines as outlined by FIELD, WIOA, and federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and statistics and to develop meaningful reports from that information.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to relate to a diverse population. 
  • Ability to effectively express ideas orally and in writing.
  • Must be detail oriented and organized.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must know the basic skills of using a computer/laptop, cell/phone/texting, emailing, scanning/photo copy machine, and GPS for directions.
  • Must be able to work independently and in teams, have time management skills.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work outside traditional hours, as needed, to recruit participants.
  • Must be outgoing and able to speak and share our programs with unknown people.
  • Must be professional, courteous and decisive. 
  • Must be able to learn about FIELD’s programs (EPIC, CTE, CCEC), Cesar Chavez history, and share this information with potential participants and others. 
  • Must always promote inclusion and cultural competency.
  • Skills and abilities to avoid conflict or deescalate a situation.
  • Must be able to motivate potential participants to join.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 


  • High School Diploma, or equivalent, required.
  • Previous experience working with the public for outreach efforts, required. 



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 


Must have valid driver’s license and personal automobile insurance. 



TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS


Must be able to travel up to 75% as needed/required. Must be willing to drive your own vehicle daily, with long distances, as needed. (Mileage reimbursement for travel provided).


LANGUAGE SKILLS 


Bilingual in Spanish, required.
